Vol. 2 ... #31
Put on the whole armor of God

When I was first born again (1975), I was having many spiritual problems.  A professor at Dallas Theological Seminary told me, "Just put on the whole armor of God."

"Fine," I replied.

"How do I do that?"

He said, "Just put on Jesus."

"How?" I asked.

He couldn't tell me how to do this.

Years later, God revealed to me that Paul, in Ephesians 6, told what each part of the armor is and therefore how we put on the whole armor of God.

Paul says:

Eph. 6 ...  10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of HIS might

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth

and having on the breastplate of righteousness

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation

and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

As I was reading this scripture, I saw each part of the armor which I needed to "put on", dressing myself daily in these parts of armor:  truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, the word of God, prayer.

I find it to be a continual, daily work keeping myself dressed in the whole armor of God ...

Remember what Peter said ...

I Peter 4 ...17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? 19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Edifying yourselves with godly writings is very important.

Heb. 10:26 ... but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

I know I am doing more now than ever before...  To keep myself and to keep the church ...

I turn the TV off ... and sit in evenings reading Bible, or reading passages from one of the 12 ministry books which we have written which are published on Amazon ... for these books are filled with godly exhortations.

We are the line of restraint for the truth.  You may be the only one in your household holding truth from God.  You may be the only one in your neighborhood holding back the evil with truth.  And the churches today are filled with people who misuse scripture.  If you hold back the truth, the evil runs rampant.

When the restraint is removed the end comes.

II Thess. 2...  Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first

(falling away ... church groups will fall away from scripture and twist scripture to please man)

and that man of sin (NIV  man of lawlessness) ... be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

(this lawlessness would come inside the church groups ... showing themselves to "be God" as they pervert Holy Scripture)

5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: 14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
