Vol. 2 ... #30
Remember your first love (Stir up the spiritual flames with the Word of God)

Mt. 6 ... 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Col. 3 ...  1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Can you remember what it was like when you were first born again?

Stop and think on that time ... stirring up that love and fire you felt when God revealed HIMSELF to you.

Think of what it was like and that desire you had toward God and knowing more about God.

Seek that through prayer ... returning to your first love ... to God ... stir up that fire again by thinking on what HE did for you ...

Stir up the fire by reading about God delivering HIS people from Egypt (symbol of the world)  Exodus 1 ...

Reread those stories of David and Goliath ... stir up the flame ...

Read Acts 4 and how Peter and John worked to deliver the Word of God.

Put another log on the fire by reading stories from the Bible.

Some of you know what it is to work at earthly marriages to keep the flame going.

We also must work at our marriage to Jesus (to the Word).

Revelation 2 ...  1 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; 2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: 3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.

4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. 5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. 7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

We must hold fast to "that first love", to God, to the Word of God ...
