Comments by Joan Boney:
After I was born again in 1975, I began reading the Bible and I saw promises from God in the Bible and I believed these promises and tried to do those things which were in these verses to qualify for these promises.
For example: Here is a promise which says we will prosper and have good success in all that we do, if we do this:
Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Meditating and doing the verses of scripture in the Bible would cause us to prosper and have good success.
So as I read the Bible I was looking for specific scripture that I could live by, thus putting my path in the way whereby I would prosper and have good success.
Psalm 1 also told me to do this, finding scripture and thinking on scripture and doing scripture.
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
(Do not seek counsel from the ungodly nor sinners nor the scornful.)
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in HIS law doth he meditate day and night.
(The Holy Bible shows us what we are to do. Even in Old Testament, there are many verses and examples which are beneficial as examples of the way to live today. The New Testament is our "rule book" and we follow these directions when the Spirit of God brings these verses to our mind, focusing and doing these instructions in the issues of this life.)
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
Many ungodly come to church. They fail to do the way of God shown by the Bible, for the most part. They attend church but live by that which is wise in the sight of men of this world. And Paul tells us this: Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind (to the Holy Bible), that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Psalm 1
6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Church goers who fail to do specific verses of scripture, often bring upon themselves many diseases and illnesses and run to doctors for wisdom rather than turning to God, often violating Psalm 1:1-2.
They end up trusting in the medical world for help and fail to receive counsel from God and their faith they live by is the training given by the current medical teachings established by worldly people and not by God. They trust in man in the problem.
But the Bible promises this to us who are of God.
James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

I had a very sharp pain in my right ear. It was so bad that I finally went to a physicians assistant at the local University Medical Center.
She said I might be having a heart attack. (I was approximately 84 at the time.) She offered to give me an EKG. She said that would show her immediately if I had a heart attack.
MY Choice! (Most people, including Christians are afraid to die. I'm not. I know it is my choice. What I want to avoid are the medical test traps. So I thanked Jamie (PA) and declined. As she was leaving the exam room, she turned and said to me, "We could give you the EKG immediately today!" I thought about it very briefly and declined again, continuing with my no medical test pattern. It truly is "my choice." That was about 3 years ago and from time to time I did have pain come back, but I don't mind dying because I believe It will simply be "falling asleep" in Christ as it says in Bible.)
I Thessalonians 4
13 But
I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which
are asleep (dead), that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with HIM.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent (go before) them which are asleep.
16 For
the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice
of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ
shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Death is simply "falling asleep". At the time of death our spirit leaves the body. We sleep in Jesus. The body is buried in grave but "we" are not in that dead body. Our soul (spirit) leaves the body and falls asleep in Christ. (I Thess. 4)
My cousin's husband died. She called me to tell me. She said she was with Thurman when he died. She said he patted her hand and then just "fell asleep" and was gone from his body.
She said she was going to visit his grave and take flowers.
I said, "Why? Thurman isn't in that dead body."
She thought about what I said and then she replied: "Then it really doesn't matter where we are buried."
"Right!" I replied.
(I've never been to my parent's graves where their dead bodies are because they aren't in those dead bodies. They are both sleeping in Jesus! They aren't in those graves.)
When the women went to visit Jesus' tomb, the angel of the Lord said to them:
Luke 24:5-6 "Why seek ye the living among the dead? 6 HE is not here, but is risen: remember how HE spake unto you when HE was yet in Galilee,"
