Matthew 15 (Jesus said)
Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8 This people draweth nigh unto ME with their mouth, and honoureth ME with their lips; but their heart is far from ME.
9 But in vain they do worship ME, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
10 And HE called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
For that which we allow to go into our heart will at some point come our of our mouth and will defile us. Therefore we must take care to guard our heart with all diligence.
I often pray over myself, Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (God can and will do this for me BECAUSE I believe HE will.)
Matthew 15 (Jesus said)
17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

1Timothy 6:9-10 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

I Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
