1 Timothy 2
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
(I suggest you look up in a dictionary the words: supplications, prayers, intercessions, giving of thanks... allowing God to expand your thinking on what to pray.)
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Concerning prayer: If we pray according to the will of God, we know our prayer will be answered. (So before praying, be sure you know the will of God on the matter at hand.)
I John 5
And this is the confidence that we have in HIM, that, if we ask any thing according to HIS will, HE heareth us:
15 And if we know that HE hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of HIM .
15 And if we know that HE hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of HIM .

Comments by Joan Boney:
I don't pray unless I believe I am praying according to the will of God.
If I sin and fall into anger and wrath with another person, I'm sure God's will is to forgive me and cleanse me.
Psalm 51:10 (Prayer) Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
And I know by what Paul says in the Bible: Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. I Timothy 2:4 ... That it must be God's will to pray for that man's salvation.
Sometimes God will give me a dream to show me HIS will about an individual.
Other times I believe a man is set for destruction as was Pharaoh. (Ex. 3) 8 God says: And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. 9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto ME: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them. 10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth MY people the children of Israel out of Egypt.
14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and HE said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.
16 Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited (judged) you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt:
17 And I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a land flowing with milk and honey.
18 And they shall hearken to thy voice: and thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, we beseech thee, three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.
19 And I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand.
20 And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all MY wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go.
15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

(God told Moses what to say to Pharaoh and what Pharaoh would not do and then what God would eventually do to the Egyptians and Pharaoh.)
We, who are Christians, are often told by the Holy Spirit who lives in us what to do and what to say. Often we know the will of God before it happens.

And if we ask God for wisdom in a situation, God will give us wisdom.
James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
(God has always given me wisdom when I have asked HIM.)

The one thing I've prayed in past over Donald Trump is that he would not lead us into nuclear war and that he would not cause a nuclear weapon to be set off against another country. (This prayer was definitely answered during the period of time when Donald Trump was president the first term.)
