Comments by Joan Boney:
As I have gotten older, things have become more burdensome to me.
I am almost 87 now. I find I enjoy having everything closer where I can reach most things at arms length and have fewer choices to have to make.
I keep a sun hat in the car to shade my eyes. It has gone missing. So I sat about to replace it. On Internet I ordered 3 wide brim hats but none were as comfortable as my missing hat.
I kept looking and found another hat that I considered ordering and I heard this from God. "Be content with such things as ye have." (Hebrews 13:5)

We are talking with a contractor, planning an extension to the south side of Pam's house so one of our church members can move to Colorado Springs.
The thought came to me that it might be affordable while the contractors were here to add about 9 ft. to the north side of my bedroom so I could have an extra chair for Pam and Sandra to watch TV in my room if they wanted to do so.
Then I began to think how I would have to walk farther to get to my bed if I did that.
I prayed and heard this which I knew to be from God: "Choose less rather than more." God gave me that word about 10 years ago over some project.
Then I began to hear the following scriptures:
I Timothy 6
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for HE hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
There is so much peace when we are "satisfied" .

I always loved this story from the Bible.
2 Kings 3
8 And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread.
9 And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually.
10 Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither.
(I find such simplicity peaceful. I came to desire less.)
