The Word that comes down from God has great power to effect change in us who believe and do that Word. There is nothing like the Word of God.
The Holy Bible is inspired by God and is therefore the Word of God.
All scripture has power.
The words spoken by man often plant seeds of fear in our heart, for example TV newscasts. We have to extinguish these fears with the Word given us by God.
For examples:
There are often stories of inflation that is coming in the days ahead.
The Bible says: Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to HIS riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
(So we reason: If a "need" comes, God will supply that need so then we will not have a need.)

The Word of God has great power to bring peace to our hearts, if we do that Word.
Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
(But be sure to do that word! Take all cares to God in prayer. When the care arises, make a habit of praying immediately. Just stop that which you are doing and pray, connecting with God in the perceived problem.)
James 2
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

So Paul says: "Be careful for nothing;"
But some church people try to be strong in themselves rather that strong in that Word by doing that Word: "but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."
So when a problem strikes, they say things like, "God will never let anything happen to me." and they try to ignore the concern they have, thinking they trust in God by ignoring the problem.
They did not do the instruction of the scripture. They did not turn to God with the problem, laying the problem on God, pouring their heart out before God.
My cousin was 97 years old when this happened. She said to me, "I do well in the day but I get so lonely at night." (Her husband died 10 years earlier.)
When I heard the problem I rejoiced for I knew God would help her and then there would no longer be a problem. So I said, "All you need to do is pray, telling God how you feel and asking God to help you to fill the night." And I gave her the scriptures, Philippians 4:6-7.
(She attended Church of Christ all her life.)
About two weeks later, she contacted me again. She said, "I do fine during the day but I get so lonely at night."
(She had not done what I told her in our previous talk. She had a habit of reliving the same problem rather than settling the problem with God.)
I believe many attend churches but fail to have a faith in the Word of God and thereby they fail to do the scriptures.
James 1
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
18 Of HIS own will begat HE us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of HIS creatures.
19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

The Bible teacher at the church which I attended in the 1980's, said this to me:
"We talk about faith. But you actually do faith."
From the time I was born again in 1975, I was looking at the Bible and seeking scripture that I could "do", applying that verse to my life, living in scripture.
And God showed me this:
Joshua 1:8-9 This book of the law (The Bible) shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
