As Jesus was teaching the people, in response to a
woman's comment about who is blessed, Jesus said those who hear the
word of God and keep it are blessed ...
Luke 11:27 And it came to pass, as he spake these
things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said
unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou
hast sucked. 28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
As I read that those Jesus told us are blessed (fortunate, well off) are those who hear and keep the word of God, I thought of how those who have been called by God and born again are given the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit draws our attention, opening our ears, to the word
God has for us, according to the will of God. And the Holy Spirit leads
us in meditating in the word we're given, teaching us, guiding
us in truth, showing us how to keep that word. As we heed and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, we are continually changed, conformed more and more to the word of God.
Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did
predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be
the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate,
them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and
whom he justified, them he also glorified.
Those who have the Holy Spirit and pay attention to each word of God brought to us by the Holy Spirit, keeping it and being conformed to that word as led by the Holy Spirit, are blessed.
