When we belong to God, we have the Spirit of God and we are led by the Spirit of God ... but we also have the flesh trying to lead us and sometimes the devil enters in and tries to lead us.
If we are diligent to pray before doing anything ... and to wait on God to show us ... we have ability to make correct choices.
But if we just move by our desires in the matter without prayer, we can be following another spirit that is not of God and suffer unnecessary trouble or loss.
Prov. 3 ... In all thy ways acknowledge him (pray, asking God what to do), and he shall direct thy paths.
