πŸ’₯ They grieved God in the wilderness and could not enter in because of unbelief.

Numbers 13

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.

(JB ...They had every thing they needed:  God told them HE would give them the land of Canaan.  God told them to go search the land.  God would make a way  for them to overcome, showing HIMSELF strong on their behalf.  But they did not believe and did not think God could do this.  This was a test for these men to see what they would do.)

3 And Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men were heads of the children of Israel.

***

17 And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain: 18 And see the land, what it is; and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many; 19 And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;

20 And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes.

21 So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath.

22 And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

23 And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.

24 The place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence.

25 And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.

26 And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land.

27 And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.

28 Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.

(The Word of God is stronger than the strongest man if you can believe.)

29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.

(Each of these men who brought the evil report were slain by God in the trip through the Wildnerness.  God would not allow any of these men into the promised land because of their unbelief.  Only Joshua and Caleb were allowed to enter the promised land.  The promises of God are earned by faith in God.)

30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

What did God say in verse 2?  (Caleb and Joshua believed what God said.)

31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.

33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sig

Sometimes the problems of this life seem like "giants". (Concerning the terminal cancer that struck Pam Padgett's body in September 2022 ... Doctor said without treatment Pam would be dead in 1 or 2 years. Pam turned to God in prayer and God showed Pam the way to go and the cancer was destroyed .  See strory on blog, Jesus Ministries Exhortations, home page right side.)

Nothing is impossible with God.

? Giants ?   To David, the size of the giant meant nothing.  He, David, fought for the living God, creator of heaven and earth.

I Samuel 17

And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.

5 And he had an helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass.

6 And he had greaves of brass upon his legs, and a target of brass between his shoulders.

7 And the staff of his spear was like a weaver's beam; and his spear's head weighed six hundred shekels of iron: and one bearing a shield went before him.

8
And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array? am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me.

9 If he be able to fight with me, and to kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then shall ye be our servants, and serve us.

(Notice the lie spoken here.  If David killed Goliath, then Goliath could not serve Israel as he said he would do.  When devils speak they twist concepts.)

10
And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.

11 When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid.

But David knew God and the power of God and David saw the power of God as greater than anyone's power.

Through belief in God David could do all things, as can all persons of real faith.

God will never fail!

Hebrews 3

17 But with whom was HE grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

18 And to whom sware HE that they should not enter into HIS rest,
but to them that believed not?

19 So we see that they could not enter in
because of unbelief.

Comments by Joan Boney:

The same thing is true today in congregations all over this world.  They cannot enter into things of God because they do not believe that Word that God speaks to them by the Holy Spirit.

John 14:26  Jesus says: But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in MY name, HE shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 16:13  Howbeit when HE, the Spirit of truth, is come, HE will guide you into all truth: for HE shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever HE shall hear (from God), that shall HE speak: and HE will shew you things to come.
