Proverbs 21:1 The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: HE turneth it whithersoever HE will.
***
God tells us to pray for those in authority that we would be able to live in peace and godliness.
I Timothy 2:1-4
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers,
intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings,
and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

I Thessalonians 5
1
But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I
write unto you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord
so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For
when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh
upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not
escape.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

(We
must watch ourselves and work to keep our hearts right with God and
keep the right spirit toward others. Therefore I often pray: Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” )
I Thessalonians 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, (by living as God has shown us to live and by continuing to live in God's Word which God gives to us.)
I Thessalonians 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, (by living as God has shown us to live and by continuing to live in God's Word which God gives to us.)
God
gives us HIS Good Word to show us the way to live in godliness. So
long as we live in godliness of God's good Word that He has given us, we
are separated from the wrath that is appointed to come upon this world.
Paul says, Philippians 2:12-16 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of HIS good pleasure. (For God gave you HIS word to show you the way to live. Now live that word and continue to live it to the end of this world, not turning from that word and way to go to the right or left, going in the straight way.)
14 Do all things without murmurings (complaining) and disputings: 15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; 16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

Proverbs 1
23 Turn you at MY reproof: behold, I will pour out MY spirit unto you, I will make known MY words unto you.
24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; 25 But ye have set at nought all MY counsel, and would none of MY reproof: 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; 27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
28 Then shall they call upon ME, but I will not answer; they shall seek ME early, but they shall not find ME: 29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: 30 They would none of MY counsel: they despised all MY reproof. 31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. 32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
33 But whoso hearkeneth unto ME shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

So one goes in the way shown HIM by God and continues in that way.
Another
hears the way and might even go in that way for a time but then turns
and follows devils and he will be destroyed by his way and even end in
great wrath in the end.
Each of us must work out our own salvation. I care enough about the way of God that I give up everything to obtain it to the end.
I once told my mother: "You can go down. But I won't go down with you."
She changed and went the right way and in the end was saved unto death.
Deuteronomy 30:19 (God says) I
call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set
before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
Jesus says:
Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
We cannot follow thoughts devils send to us and be saved. We must "try the spirit" to see if the thought sent us is from God. We must not go in the way of devils. We must work continually, diligently, daily to sort through thoughts and to establish the way of God vs. ways of devils that we may go in the way of God.
Devils take us in the way of trouble and turmoil and not in the way of peace.
So I know when I am troubled, I'm not going in the way of God.
Therefore in these last days, I am setting my goal to live in peace, without spot, and blameless as the apostle Peter said to do as we wait for the return of Jesus.
2 Peter 3
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in
the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the
elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that
are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
13 Nevertheless we, according to HIS promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of HIM in peace, without spot, and blameless.
