Pam Padgett shared this and it has helped me more with prayer in causing me to remember to pray about all things, more than anything I've ever encountered.  And by doing this, I have added another level of peace to my life.

Pam explains:

Something that helps me when I'm troubled about something, or trying to work through something, is to write down what I'm praying as I am praying, pretty much word for word.   Kind of as if I am writing a letter to God about the matter, reviewing the matter with HIM, pouring out my heart before God.

 

Somehow, this helps me focus as I talk with God about the matter and kind of controls my mind from quickly and continuously going from one thing to another.  It calms me down.

 

And if I hear something from the Holy Spirit as I am praying, this helps me grab that and not let it slip. I write it down right away and later add it to what I am meditating on at the time so I can keep it in front of me for a while.

 

If other matters come to mind while I'm praying about something, I just make a quick note so I can go over that with God when I finish the current thing without being concerned that I'll forget it.

 

I keep a notebook by the chair I often sit in just for the purpose of writing down what I'm praying and anything I hear from the Holy Spirit as I pray. 

 

I am always helped when I do this.

 

And I almost never go back and read what I've prayed/written in the notebook (my writing is so messy it would be hard to read at any rate!). It just helps me as I'm praying.

When we start writing down that which we are praying to God it is amazing to me how much I feel connected to God.  And even when I quit writing and do other things I am aware I am praying to God from my heart.  Much more I find I am actually doing what Paul said.

I really hate the way of this world.  It seems so evil to me.  Can it be long to judgment.

 

Previous times, like 1930's, seemed more decent ... except for Hitler ... I don't like the ugliness of this time.  But I am glad I'm here at this time because we have the internet to send messages.  It is so easy today and inexpensive to communicate, even phone calls are inexpensive compared to previous long distance periods.

Thank you for the Agatha Christi movies last night.  Also for the old James Cagney movie last week and that wonderful old English actress who played his mother.  I find movies made today to be so indecent and crude and poorly written, for most part, and immoral. I saw Mary Poppins a few days ago and rejoiced greatly in the genius of Walt Disney.

 

Please fill my time with good and not with evil.  It helps to read Bible and even our little books. Makes me calmer and more controlled and peace.

 

Good to have that scripture showing there is ONE who judges even when justice seems to have escaped ... think of this.

I just saw this scripture:

2 Chronicles 19:6 
And said to the judges, Take heed what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the judgment.  

We also judge for YOU by doing what scripture tells us to do rather than trying to please other humans.  They need to see they are bad in what they did because they are.  Let them be embarrassed over their actions when wrong.  Why should their name be protected when they do bad.

I find it good to talk with YOU this way.

Psalms 113:4  The LORD is high above all nations, and His glory above the heavens.

 

Ecclesiastes 5:8  
If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for HE that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.

Psalms 61:2    From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.   

Send me a scripture, please, for it works, settles me and calms me, and takes me in joy and peace.

On approximately December 4th or 5th 2024, I began to "wish" I had a TV channel that played classic old movies from the 1930's, with great actors and directors and writers of the time.  I really hate most of today's offerings with the blatant sin displayed and I won't watch it. 

 

I laugh when I see the warning at the beginning of the old movies as "smoking",  for the warning on new movies is so often :  "limited sexual content" ... I don't even want limited sin before my eyes. It makes me sad to see sin.

(Last night, I was on Prime and Pam typed in a search looking for me to see  Agatha Christi's, "All the Evil under the Sun" (Peter Ustinoff version)

 

The search took us to a station PLEX  ... where I watched that movie.  Then they were playing other movies I am interested in seeing. 

 

I watched the wonderful production in 1945 of Agatha Christi's "And then there were none."  (Fine old actors like Dame Judith Anderson of British stage; Barry Fitzgerald; Walter Huston; Roland Young)

 

This was a delightful production which I thoroughly enjoyed.  This was like an answer to my "wish".

 

I'm 87. Having something that fills in the time between dinner and bedtime would really help me to "endure" in joy and peace!

 

Isaiah 65:24     And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. 

*Thank YOU God for providing even before I called.

( I could watch some of these during the evening news which I rarely find of interest to me.  And often it pulls me down to see the awful looking people on TV and what they are doing and I'm grieved!  But I know it is the end time and that is what people will be.)

Paul told us what to expect.

2 Timothy 3

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection (homosexual, lesbians, abortioners), trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

I have often seen women at church hanging on every breath spoken by the minister at church.  Looking at him as if he is a god.  And mostly I've witnessed them hearing and then failing to do the word and they grow weaker and weaker as they live on this earth, but they faithfully attend church and give offerings and then die.  I see no victory in them at all.  They are fearful, usually sad, consumed, depressed, worried ... tossed about like a leaf in the wind ... unstable, jumping from one thing to another ...

 

(At Word of Faith, my teacher said to me:  "Joan ... you live faith.  We just talk faith.")

8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

Genesis 6:5   And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

It's getting worse and worse as Paul said it would do, and I know we must carefully pick what we do in the days in which we live and we must be careful who we choose to be around!  For they will keep us from: peace, calm, without spot, blameless ...  living as Peter said to live while waiting for the coming of Jesus.  Setting our life where this can happen.  

I felt instant relief recently when I put the Idolater away and no longer called her and kept company with her.  I'm very fortunate to have the ability to publish the blog for that allows me to know that she can receive everything YOU bring to me through that blog if she chooses to repent from idolatry and not return to idolatry and partake of spiritual writings.

Deliver us from evil please!  I think these things help deliver us from today's evil.

 

I feel much more peace and much calmer doing these ... and I rejoice in the day before me NOW.

I almost can't stand any news today. The stories are often so evil, vulgar, vile, unnecessary ... puffing up man and presenting him as "good" when I know he is evil, for very few have integrity or morality today.  Jesus knew what was in man and so do we.  

 John 2:25  And needed not that any should testify of man: for HE knew what was in man.

 

(If we will learn to pay attention to the Holy Spirit of God we will also know truth about man and situations for the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth.)

And these prayers to YOU, God, daily writing them out makes me feel "connected" even when I am  doing other things ... connected to YOU in ways I never before felt ... helping me greatly ... not to be lonely.  YOU are always there 24/7.  

 

And YOU are good.

The things I've learned recently makes me want to live and makes living in this time endurable.

Every time I do a scripture, I find I'm instantly in a better life and am at peace.

 

When I took this action in dealing with an Idolater in our church group a few days ago, it was right and I was helped and I know as a result she will be helped also. (But it wouldn't seem so to my flesh!)

I Corinthians 5 Paul instructs.

 

 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.

2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.

 

puffed up:  say and think:  "I would never do that."  Think of how they puff up themselves up in their own perception of righteousness!

3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,

Comments by Joan Boney: Concerning idolatry   Several times church individuals (usually women) have tried to make me their God.  It is not unusual for ministers to experience this from some individuals.  They want to tell me their projects and discuss each detail with me.  It makes me want to run away! 

 

What Pam describes here reminds me of what they try to do with me as they practice Idolatry toward me.  It feels sick but the only way I could stop them was to stay away from them.  And it made me feel like I was doing wrong.  But if you read I Cor. 5 not keeping company with them is exactly what Paul told us to do.

 

It is so subtle ... it is like you have unknowingly stepped into quicksand, you are engulfed by them and  they entangle you and pull you down and all you are doing is trying to help them. But they should be turning to God for help.  Instead they are wanting you to work out all these things and lead them. It is a terrible thing to go through ... I feel it is terrible for both the person who is the Idolater and the person they try to make into a God.  

 

If we keep distance from them, perhaps it is of help to the idolater also, showing them we are not the one they should be turning to but God.  Paul says: "Don't keep company with such." v. 11 ..."With such an one know not to eat." v.11  "Put that person away from you." v. 13

And I have found idolaters just want to be with you and sit and stare at you and hear you talk.  And some feel important because they are in your company.  You really are their God.  It's awful.

- Lord, I don't know what, if anything to do about Ann.  She didn't return my call from 3-4 weeks ago, and I was busy publishing books and lost track.  When I tried to call her yesterday, her land-line answering system seemed full.  I left a message on her mobile phone, but she hasn't returned the call yet.  Since she lives alone, it makes me wonder if she is OK, if she needs help. 

 

Lord, YOU know exactly what is going on and if YOU want me to do something in her regard.  YOU know the truth of her situation and if anything is needed.  Please lead me strongly if YOU want me to do anything.

 

.... Answer to this prayer:  After praying this, that night I was given a dream.  In the dream I was at Ann's house.  Someone was showing me through the house and everything was very orderly (not at all like Ann's house has looked in the past).  There were place-settings on the dining table with colorful napkins, as though prepared for a formal dinner.

As I woke from this dream I was asking what it meant.  The concept given me was "Ann is OK and doesn't need any help."

- Lord, please give me wisdom in dealing with the basement and with Aaron, the guy who did a lot of work at our neighbor Garreth's house and who gave me a bid to do work in my basement.  But, Lord, the bid was at least double the cost I thought would be reasonable.  And when I spoke with him yesterday evening on the telephone, he mentioned having included things I never thought of having done, like a closet.  It was several weeks from the time we first talked and he looked at the job until he sent the bid, although a couple times he said he would send it and didn't. (bad sign)  And I told him yesterday evening that for what I wanted done, I thought it would probably take 1-2 days; he said what he bid would take at least a week and probably more.  This is more disruption than I had planned on.

 

It just seems that nothing is working out with this man, and I don't think it wise to try to move forward with him.  I told him last night I probably would not be going forward with this but would let him know for sure, one way or the other. 

 

.... While writing this out, everything became very clear and I knew exactly what to say to Aaron.  I simply sent him a text saying I had decided not to move forward with having him do the work in the basement and thanked him for providing a bid. 

 

- Lord, I recently noticed a guy on the Next Door website who sounds like he may do the type of work I need done in the basement, and am considering asking him to look at the job.  If this is not the best way to go, please show me somehow.  

- Please help us with the new book, Connecting to God Through Prayer.  Please show us exactly what YOU want us to include in the book.  

.... Answer to this prayer:  Joan and I both were given the idea of adding a chapter to an existing book rather than writing a new book.  We decided to add a new chapter entitled "Connecting to God Through Prayer" to the book "Living Continually In Peace While We Wait For The Return Of Jesus"

-  Thank YOU for the guy who came to clean the dryer vent last week.  It sounded to me as though he got through to the outside, and he seemed to be thorough in cleaning the vent.  Best of all, the dryer worked without stopping after he cleaned the vent.  Thank YOU! 

- Is there anything I should do about the dryer vent, changing it in some way so it doesn't get clogged up?  Maybe some way to do away with the "elbow" or maybe replace the current "elbow" with something different?  It seems this needs to be resolved before doing any more work on the basement ceiling in that area.  Please lead me clearly in what to do, if anything.  

- And, Lord, what about getting a permit for enclosing the mechanical room?  I just haven't been motivated to prepare a diagram and go to the building department to get that done.  Perhaps whoever I get to do the work can pull the permit?  Please lead me to the best person to do this.  

- Please give us wisdom in what streaming channels to subscribe to.  In looking at options after Joan mentioned how much she enjoyed the old movies and Disney movies, we should be able to setup the TCM app and stream Disney+.  There may also be other channels that we would find enjoyable.  

- Lord, as YOU know, I really like to go for walks and we have such a nice and convenient area (the old golf course) to go walking.  But what about the dogs?  Gus gets so excited, pulling and barking, if we see another person on the trail.  And he really goes crazy if another dog is in sight.  He is so strong that it is a challenge to handle him.  I sure can't handle him and Gracie together.  But if I take Gracie by herself, or leave both dogs home, Gus will bark at home until I return.  Please show me how to deal with this.  I find myself not going for walks because I don't know what to do about the dogs.  

-  Please help me serve YOU and to spend time in YOUR word and to be conformed to YOUR word and led by the Holy Spirit.

- Please help Sandra get firmly on YOUR path for her, to seek to please and serve only YOU, to clearly see YOU as her help and hope.
