πŸ’₯ Romans 12:2 Be not conformed to this world

Politics causes much hatred, often in masses of people.

During this election season, TV ads pop up on our screens touting one and demeaning another, to try to get us to vote.

God does not require us to vote, but would have us "pray" for those in authority, not just at election time but throughout the various trials of this life.

1 Timothy 2

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Comments by Joan Boney:

I am not political.  I do not vote and am not registered to vote for either political party.  I think it would be very easy to fall into sin through politics.  Most people I've met who vote consider one party "good" and the other party "evil".  I do not have hatred in my heart toward either party.

And I know the truth of this statement:

The apostle Paul says:   14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.  (I Cor. 14)

We cannot make this world righteous.  We can't cause people who are worldly to live by laws of God in the NT Bible.

God once told me this:  "You will never be able to make this world righteous."  It is the New heaven and New earth wherein dwelleth righteousness.  2 Peter 3

We can be destroyed by taking hatred into our hearts.

Therefore we are careful to avoid those things that cause us to hate.

And if we do already hate, we can pray for God to cleanse our heart and our Spirit.    I often pray this over myself.

Psalm 51:10   Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Thank God that we live in a country where we are not required to vote, where we are free "not to vote."

2 John

8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

11 For he that biddeth him God speed
is partaker of his evil deeds.

If you vote for someone you "wish him well", I would think.

In this scripture we are warned:  If we wish someone well and he does evil, we become partaker of those "evil deeds".

I never say, "Have a good day," glibly as people of this world do.  Because I know what the Bible says.  If I say, "Have a good day," and that person does evil, God considers me to be partaker of that person's evil deeds.

I wish Pam Padgett well because I know she seeks God and follows the Holy Spirit and lives by faith in God and if I see her going in a dangerous way, I warn her and she heeds godly warnings.

(Do you have that power with any politician?)

Romans 12:1-2  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

People of this world may tell us it is "our duty to vote."

I would say if I vote for that person and that person does evil, the Bible tells me I would be partaker of his evil deeds.

I'm a Christian.

Politics is often evil.

I don't vote, but sometimes I do pray for the person who is in authority, as I am told to do in the Bible.  (1 Tim. 2)

I've seen more than one born again Christian swept away by hating a presidential candidate ... and I've rescued one Christian from this hatred.  Another, a Baptist, was temporarily freed by a godly message that I spoke to her ... but then went back into her political fervor later.

There is a good deal of evil in politics.

Be not partaker of other men's sins ... Keep yourself pure.  (I Timothy 5:22)
