πŸ’₯ The way God led HIS children in the Old Testament and the way we in New Testament are led by God today.

In the Old Testament God led HIS people by fire at night and by a cloud by day.

Numbers 9

15 And on the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle, namely, the tent of the testimony: and at even there was upon the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until the morning.

16 So it was alway: the cloud covered it by day, and the appearance of fire by night.

17 And when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that the children of Israel journeyed: and in the place where the cloud abode, there the children of Israel pitched their tents.

18 At the commandment of the LORD the children of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of the LORD they pitched: as long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they rested in their tents.

19 And when the cloud tarried long upon the tabernacle many days, then the children of Israel kept the charge of the LORD, and journeyed not.

20 And so it was, when the cloud was a few days upon the tabernacle; according to the commandment of the LORD they abode in their tents, and according to the commandment of the LORD they journeyed.

21 And so it was, when the cloud abode from even unto the morning, and that the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they journeyed: whether it was by day or by night that the cloud was taken up, they journeyed.

22 Or whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle, remaining thereon, the children of Israel abode in their tents, and journeyed not: but when it was taken up, they journeyed.

23 At the commandment of the LORD they rested in the tents, and at the commandment of the LORD they journeyed: they kept the charge of the LORD, at the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

Today we have the Spirit of God living in us and HE brings thoughts to our mind to lead us.

Romans 8:14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Hebrews 1:1-2  God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,  Hath in these last days spoken unto us by HIS Son, whom HE hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

Jesus lives in us today by HIS Spirit who leads us and guides us.

We wait for HIM to show us when to go forth.  And when HE speaks to us we move by HIS being.

We wait patiently "resting in our tents."

An example of waiting:  There was a woman who came among our church group in 1980.  But something was wrong.  When she spoke I recognized something was wrong.  She once told me that it was because she couldn't have faith and she gave the following example to me.  Hebrews 3  But with whom was HE grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom sware HE that they should not enter into HIS rest, but to them that believed not? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

She seemed to think she had to do works to be saved.  But it is God who saves us by that which HE does.  When HE speaks to us, we have evidence of salvation.  The work was done by God.  We are HIS Workmanship.  God spoke to each of us and created us by that Word which HE spoke to us and changed us into HIS Children.

I think she finally saw this.

We read the Bible and do the scriptures which are the Word.  We focus on doing one scripture at a time.  And then we do another scripture when it is shown us.  Then another.  There are seasons where we live in that scripture and then the Holy Spirit causes another scripture to stand to us and we live in that scripture.

One step at a time ... One step at a time ... It is enough, says God.

To me, when there is a cloud over the issue, I have learned to do nothing.  But when the cloud clears and I see clearly, I act upon that which I see to do.

Until God opens my eyes to see, I stay still.
