Many things come to us through the years to shock us and trouble us.
We must learn to turn to God and pray, laying these problems out before HIM.
Philippians 4
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
THOU wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on THEE: because he trusteth in THEE.
13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; (We learn from God. Heb. 8:10-11)

The only way we can live in peace on this earth is to turn to God in prayer, presenting our concerns to God, asking for God's help and guidance, and trusting in that Word given us by God after we have prayed.
