We are saved by faith.
God speaks to us. We believe. And are saved.
But we are saved not to sin but rather when God chooses to reveal HIS Word to us and we believe and are saved, it is so we can live to God by faith instead of serving ourselves as we once did.
God changes us instantly after HE speaks to us.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
We are instantly "new creatures".
It is the will of God and God chose us to salvation. It is certainly not because we were good and deserved salvation. At least most of us didn't. It was simply the will of God that we were saved.
It doesn't make sense to most people. But to those of us who are born again by God by HIS Spirit we know we didn't earn being born again. It just happened. All of a sudden God caused us to be new creatures.
