The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth.

The truth is in Jesus, The Word, and the Holy Spirit brings us the word that HE hears from God so we can walk in the way of God.  And we choose "that Word".  The Holy Spirit brings the truth from God to our minds in the events of this present life.

And the truth, The Holy Spirit, dwells in us.

II John v. 2  For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.

And the apostle Paul tells us:

II Timothy 1:14   That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

The Holy Spirit of Truth reminds us of all truth so we can choose to go in the way of truth.  And holding onto that Word from God when other ideas contrary to that truth come to mind. For the devil brings thoughts to us which are opposite to that word we have heard from God.
