The Holy Spirit brings a word from God to our minds and we simply follow what HE tells us, believing HIM.
So we ask ourselves: What has God told me about this matter, for that is the truth.
Some people want to believe something and they try to believe that thing without actually hearing the truth from the Spirit of God.
But when God brings something to our mind by the Holy Spirit that is the truth and that is what we focus on and believe.

Can you recognize the Spirit of God when HE speaks a word from God to you?
Jesus says:
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, HE shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 16:13 Howbeit when HE, the Spirit of truth, is come, HE will guide you into all truth: for HE shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever HE shall hear (from God), that shall HE speak: and HE will shew you things to come.

Is the Spirit of God in you?
If so, what are some of the words HE has given you through the situations of the past?
See if you can make out a list of HIS words.
Here is a list of some of the words given me by the Holy Spirit:
* Don't testify. (court trial in 1976)
* Call the radio station manager. (Are YOU telling me to go on radio? I wouldn't know how to do that.)
* Three dimes will work. (When I didn't have quarter and nickel. I had several dimes in purse.)
* Quickly call mechanic. (5 pm on a Friday when I discovered dead battery in car.)
* You can do this. (crawl to phone after fall at house)
* You can have that. (wood rather than gas logs)
* You don't have to put up with this. (defective TV)
* Or you could just buy a new car. (rather than new upholstery in old car)
* Lower the price and put house on special sale for one week. (Concerning house in Texas, March 2020, during Coronavirus.)
* God will supply all your need. (what if such & such happens?)
(It is like God, by Holy Spirit, is continually watching over me and giving me options and information by Holy Spirit, bringing these words to my mind .)
Please notice how often in the above list God spoke a concept to me.
That is as much the word of God as scripture for it was God speaking.

It is so easy also to recognize which ideas are from God:
* God's yoke is easy and HIS burden is light. (Mt. 11:30)
* The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. (James 3:17)

And frequently God will give me information through a dream.
You must have the interpretation from God for the dream, otherwise of yourself you might get it wrong.
