* Overcoming through God.

Comments by Joan Boney:

In the book of Revelation, Jesus spoke to the 7 churches of Asia and to each church Jesus gave one commission:  Overcome

Revelation 3:5  Jesus says:  He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

We overcome each time we follow that which is spoken to us, brought to our minds, by the Holy Spirit of God.

Each time we believe and act on that Word from God in an appropriate way, we overcome.

And that blessing of God is in overcoming by faith in what God has said to us.

For the devil brings exactly opposite to truth from God to our minds to try to turn us from God's truth.

Concerning devil, Jesus says:

John 8:44 ... He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

When the devil brings his thoughts to our mind, they are lies sent for the purpose of destroying us if we believe what he says and choose to live in him.

Spirits bring thoughts to our minds.

Jonah 2:8 They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

Therefore we are told in the Bible.

I John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God:

Thoughts come to our minds from God's Spirit ... but thoughts also come to us from devils ... and thoughts come from the desires of our own flesh.

We have to decide which spirit brought that thought before we act upon that thought.

Here is how we know thoughts that are from God.

James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Also we must pay attention to that which other people say for what they say reveals to us the truth concerning what they are.

One day, we had taken the dogs to the dog park.  As we drove into the parking area, Pam waved excitedly to a couple who were parking their car.  They were neighbors to her.  They came to our car and the man said, "Do you have a new car?"  Pam acknowledged that we did have a new car.

I mentioned we had been having trouble with the new car.

The woman, his wife I think, said, "You should take that car back and make them give you another car."

By this, I knew what that woman was.  She will cause trouble and strife.

I told Pam and she was glad.  Pam had a "soft heart" toward this woman because this woman likes dogs.

Another example:

An exterminator came to our house because mice had gotten into our house.  He quickly identified himself as being of God.  But then he said, "You can always pray that God sends the mice to a neighbor which you hate."

I was shocked.

I replied, "I don't hate any of our neighbors."

(By his words, I knew he was not of God.)

Then he tried to say he was just kidding.

But I knew the truth:  "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh."  (Mt. 12:34)

Then he tried to tell us of the ministry trips that he makes with another man from time to time.

But I had no part in this and stopped him because I knew what he was.

Do not be deceived.  Neither partake of their works.  Pay attention to that which they say for it will reveal whom they serve.

They will come saying they are of God but they are really antichrist in the end times.

Matthew 24:4-5  Concerning the last days, Jesus said:

Take heed that no man deceive you.  For many shall come in MY name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
