* A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

James 1:5-8

5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Comments by Joan Boney:

Stability comes to us by being sure it is God who is leading us.

We will not stand if all we have is our own idea, even if our own idea is based on a scripture.

It must be God showing us to do that thing otherwise we can be shaken.

And even when God shows us to do something, we must focus on "that word" which God spoke to us to show us to take the action we have taken, for usually when God does tell us something, ideas come which try to take us another way.

Meditating in that word given to us by God is very important to keep us in the way of God.

Faith comes first by hearing that word spoken by God by HIS Spirit.

When we know it was the Spirit of God speaking to us, we know we are not going by our own thinking but by the way of God.

This is the level we must have when we go forward in any thing.

Otherwise we will end up being like a leaf blowing in the wind.  That leaf blows which ever way the wind blows.  That double minded man is unstable in all his ways and the apostle James says:  For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

And if we try to work with a double minded man, we will end up inflamed by his words and entangled with trying to help him and we will likely be pulled down by him.  We will feel like a punching bag.  First he says one thing and then the opposite to that first word.  When I see such a man, I have to walk away and be restored by God.  He can go down but I must not go down with him.

Matthew 15:13-14  Jesus said:  Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.  Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

Only when we hear from God concerning the matter at hand are we stable.  If they cannot hear from God, they cannot follow God.

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
