Psalm 134 ... Prayers to God & Promises from God to the Church

1 Behold, bless ye the Lord, all ye servants of the Lord,
which by night stand in the house of the Lord.

2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary,
and bless the Lord.

3 The Lord that made heaven and earth
bless thee out of Zion.

Comments by Joan Boney

In the New Testament church we individuals who carry the Holy Spirit inside us are the temple of the Holy Spirit.  We are the house of God.

One time I went to a secular luncheon.  The woman seated next to me pointed out a building outside the window and began talking about that being "her church".

I spoke up and said, "We who believe in God are the church."

This woman became very angry and began speaking mockingly about me ... She said of herself, "I'm not a church ... That building is a church ..."

She probably wasn't the church.

But I am.  We are when we have the Holy Spirit.

We stand continually, wherever we are, "in the house of God", for we who are chosen by God and have HIS Spirit in us are the house of God, a building not made with human hands ... The New Testament church.

We lift up our hands in the sanctuary by doing the will of God.

Heb. 4 ... 1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into HIS rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them:but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into MY rest:although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

4 For HE spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all HIS works.

5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into MY rest.

6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:7 Again, HE limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear HIS voice, harden not your hearts.

8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into HIS rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

The sabbath for the NT church is ceasing from your own works and resting in HIS works.  We live daily in a continual state of rest as we seek HIS will through prayer and as we wait for HIM to show us what to do, if anything.  And when HE shows us what to do, we rest in HIS work by doing what HE shows us to do for it is not our work that we do but God's work.
