Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
Ask yourself this: If I speak this, will it edify the church? Will it cause the individual to be built up in the faith in God?
Then if you are still tempted to speak something which would tickle the flesh, or bring strife, you can pray: "God please don't let me say that."
And then just walk away.
