Both Jesus and Paul warned us of the increase of deception in the last days.
Jesus said one of the signs of HIS coming is this.
Matthew 24:4-5 Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Many will come saying "Jesus is the Christ", and because they say that, they will deceive many.
Almost every human who comes across my path, in the United States, says he is a Christian.
But almost each one of these persons goes on to show me he is not following the Spirit of God.
Romans 8:14 as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Paul said:
II Timothy 3
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
(They say they are Christians but they deny the power of the scriptures to rule over themselves.)
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

These are days filled with deception in church groups.
