* A warning to us from the scriptures.

Psalm 106

35 But (God's people) were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.

36 And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.

39 Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.

40 Therefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against His people, insomuch that he abhorred His own inheritance.

41 And HE gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.

43 Many times did HE deliver them; but they provoked HIM with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.

It is so important us to seek God's counsel concerning all matters, praying, asking God for HIS wisdom in that which we are thinking of doing.

James 1:5   If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

I do not want to go in my own thinking.  I do not want to trust in myself.

Proverbs 16:3   Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

If we can remember to pray over everything, it is so much better.  If God shows us what to do it helps us to fight our own pride, for we know it was God, rather than ourselves, who showed us what to do in the issue at hand.

Also there is a great danger in going in our own thinking.

Proverbs 16:25   There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

We have such a good example in this 2020 Coronavirus for which of us foresaw this happening?  Yet God knew it was upon us.  And when we seek our wisdom from God, we are spared many griefs that we might plan for ourselves in our own wisdom.

And it pleases God for us to seek HIM in our way upon this earth!

Proverbs 3

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge HIM
(pray over all things), and HE shall direct thy paths.

7 Be not wise in thine own eyes:  fear the Lord, and depart from evil.
