This past Thursday morning Joan asked me to try to find pictures of her house in Lubbock which showed furniture in the different areas of the great room which the new realtor might be able to use with potential buyers.
Since we aren't going to have the house "staged", these pictures might be helpful to someone.
I felt sure I had some of these pictures somewhere, and checked my Kindles, laptops, and even a box where I keep picture prints, but didn't find any of the pictures.
It seemed impossible that I didn't have some of these pictures, and I looked a couple times, but didn't see any of them.
Joan was reminded that God provides all our needs, so if we need the pictures, we will have them. If we don't have pictures, we must not need them.
Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
As Joan continued putting together a detailed listing of features of the house for the new realtor, I went on to other things, not knowing where else to look for pictures.
The following morning, I thought of these pictures again and asked God about them.
I had the thought to look in the basement for pictures Joan had in Lubbock and that may have been brought here. So I went to the basement.
There, laying on top of some boxes, was an envelope with pictures brought from Joan's house! In the envelope were several prints of the inside of Joan's house showing how she had arranged furniture.
However, the pictures were pretty dark. They didn't seem usable.
But I was given the thought that Wal-Mart could transfer prints to electronic format and then I could use some photo software already on my laptop to try to lighten the pictures.
Joan chose 8 pictures we might want to use, and I took them to Wal-Mart.
The woman at the photo counter showed me how to scan the pictures at a "self service" machine.
Surprisingly, when she saw there were only 8 pictures, she worked through scanning each of the pictures, making adjustments and re-scanning.
She noticed things I didn't see! (making adjustments to the photos as needed)
Then I submitted the scanned pictures to be printed.
The machine gave a receipt showing that a CD of the scanned pictures would be ready for pickup by 4 pm (about 5 hours later).
But the woman at the photo counter told me she could have them in about 20 minutes.
I did some shopping and came back about 20 minutes later, and the CD was ready!
On the way back to my house from Wal-Mart, it suddenly occurred to me that I may not have a CD drawer on either of my laptops.
Immediately, I was reminded that I have a desktop computer that had been left at Jim's house and that it probably had a CD drawer.
(The new owners of Jim's house gave the computer to me last week so I could ask Jim's son if the computer might have pictures or anything else Jim's family would want. Jim died last month.)
When I got home I checked my laptops. Neither has a CD drawer.
But Jim's old desktop computer did!
It was so easy to put the CD in the CD drawer of Jim's computer and transfer the pictures to a thumb drive which could then be used on my laptop.
Then the photo software did a wonderful job brightening up the pictures.
Joan and I were both surprised at how good the pictures looked.
Very usable!
One last thing ... at one point Joan had mentioned a picture she remembered taking from the front door looking all the way to the fountain in the back yard.
She had wanted to use this picture for new realtor, but I hadn't found a print of it.
After finishing with the scanned prints, I had the thought to look on my Kindle again.
There was that picture!
And, being on the Kindle, it was already in electronic format so just needed to be lightened a little before we could use it.
I sent the pictures to our new realtor, Chrystie. She said she would try to use these on a flyer to have at the house for showings. We also included them with the detail description Joan put together about the house and sent to Chrystie.
It's so obvious that God supplied the needed pictures, each step of the way. I find myself rejoicing in God as I think about this.
Comments by Joan Boney:
To Pam:
And to think you could do this transfer with Jim's old computer and using whatever a "thumb drive" might be ... good experience in all the years you spent on computers at Fed Ex.
(Pam is a retired computer programmer from Fed Ex.)
I also wondered if God put that picture on your KINDLE after the times you looked ... maybe one of His angels is fooling with your computer. I can almost hear an angel giggling!
