Yesterday I recorded 5 podcast to help the survivors of the shootings in Uvalde, Texas.
We had planned to release these recordings as a 5-part group on our Podcasts starting July 24, 2022. But last night something happened that causes us to start releasing these Podcasts immediately.
CNN presented a program: "77 Minutes in Uvalde". They showed video of the entire 77 minutes of the tape of the hallway at Robb Elementary School at the time the teenage gunman was shooting 19 elementary school children and 2 teachers.
I was horrified to think that people in Uvalde might see this program which aired Friday night at midnight CST.
I was afraid of both suicides and murders happening in Uvalde as a result of the TV show on CNN.
They showed the gunman entering the hallway of the school with his automatic rifle as he looked for people to kill.
As he shot his gun you could hear the shots but they edited out the screams of the children.
They then showed the police entering that hallway wearing protective gear and carrying automatic rifles.
The police were very cautiously and slowly walking down the hallway in the direction of the gunshots.
3 Policemen reached the classroom where the shots were being fired. Then 2 of the policemen backed up to a place in the hall where approximately 6 other police officers dressed in attack gear were waiting.
And all the police stood in the hallway doing nothing for 77 minutes as the gunman killed 19 children and 2 teachers.
CNN played the entire 77 minutes of the killings with sound of the gunfire.
I was horrified! I think to see this would have been a terrible thing for the parents of the children who had been killed. I could see how that TV newscast could provoke suicides and even murder of the policemen who clearly did nothing for 77 minutes as children and teachers were killed by the gunman.
So we are presenting the 5 Podcasts on our blog as soon as Pam has them ready.
At least one Podcast will be presented on today's blog in case someone in Uvalde happens to see it.
An advertisement telling the Uvalde people about the availability of the Podcasts will appear at the next printing of the local Uvalde newspaper which will be Thursday, July 21, 2022. All 5 recordings will also be available at that date.
