Podcast: God does all that HE said HE would do

Joshua 21

43 And the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which HE sware to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.

44 And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that HE sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.

45 There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.

Some of those things God promised to the nation of Israel.

Genesis 12

1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

4 So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.

5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.

6 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.

7 And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land:

The children of Israel spent 430 years in Egypt and then God brought them out and took them across the wilderness and into the land which HE had promised to Abraham.

Moses led them to the river Jordan.

Then Joshua took Moses place and led them into that land promised to Abraham by God.

There were more than 600,000 men over the age of 20.  God showed them which cities to conquer and they took those cities for their possessions.

As a leader, God promised Joshua the following:

Joshua 1

3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.

5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses MY servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

10 Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,

11 Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.

God has given us in the New Testament church many gifts to enable us to do HIS assignments on this present earth as along as HE leaves us on this earth.

We have our assignments.  Some have been given families which is their assignment.  Others are given to the church to work in the church.

Ephesians 4

7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

8 Wherefore HE saith, When HE ascended up on high, HE led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

11 And HE gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into HIM in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

2 Peter 1

3 According as HIS divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of HIM that hath called us to glory and virtue:

4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

We enter into God's rest on this earth by faith as we live in those exceeding great and precious promises some of which are as follows:

Hebrews 13:5  Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for HE hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

James 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Philippians 4:6-7   Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Jesus says:

Revelation 3:5   He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before HIS angels.

We overcome through God as long as we live on this present earth.

When a problem surfaces, we pray.  God shows us what to do in the problem by bringing the Word to our mind by the Holy Spirit.  We do that Word in the problem, overcoming by that Word which we have heard from God.  And after we do that, we are at rest again in God by that which HE told us to do in the problem.  And we live in a continual rest by faith in God as long as God chooses to leave us on this earth.

God keeps us continually by that Word which HE brings to our mind.

Like the children who overcame in the Old Testament, we overcome through the faith we have in God by doing that which God tells us to do in the midst of the problem.

The Holy Spirit of God is given by God to live in us in the New Testament to teach us all things, to guide us into all truth, to remind us of all that Jesus has said, and to show us things to come.

Romans 8:1  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Galatians 5:22-23  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance:

The Holy Spirit of God brings to our mind that which is the will of God in the issues of this life and we follow HIM.

Our faith is in what God says in the matter of this present life and we do that Word which HE brings to us and we overcome through our faith in that Word which HE has given us.

Jesus says to us:

Matthew 24:35  Heaven and earth shall pass away, but MY words shall not pass away.

So we continually ask ourselves:  "Did God tell me to do this?"

That is all that matters.
