* A testament shows the will of the testator. The New Testament shows the will of Jesus.

Hebrews 9

11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by HIS own blood HE entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:

14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

15 And for this cause HE is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.

17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

18 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.

19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,

20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.

21 Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.

22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

25 Nor yet that HE should offer Himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;

26 For then must HE often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath HE appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for HIM shall HE appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

The elect of God are the church.

And the called of God are the inheritors of the promise provided by the New Testament which is in effect through the shed blood of Christ.

Romans 8

9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His.

10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

11 But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, HE that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.

(HE makes us alive by bringing to our minds the word that is from God.)

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

(If we follow the ideas of our own mind we will die.  But if we hear from the Spirit and put to death the fleshly ideas, we shall live.)

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together.

(We suffer with Christ every time we share the Word of Jesus for the natural man will not receive the things of the Spirit of God and he will persecute us and speak evil of us when we speak those things of God.)

And we, who are the elect of God, and have been given the Holy Spirit of God to live in us are the children of God and we follow HIM by HIS Spirit.

Vast numbers of church goers who have followed instruction of religious men, doing what seems religious, are not born again by HIS Spirit and are not the elect of God.

To be the elect of God, God chooses us and reveals Jesus, The Word, to us, and we agree with HIM and follow HIM by HIS Spirit.

When God chooses us, then salvation is of God and not of ourselves.

Example:

When I was 15 years old, I went forward and was baptized in water at Church of Christ.  I didn't want to go to hell.  I had no idea I was sinning.  Nothing changed in my life.

When I was 37 years old, God spoke to me by His Spirit and said:  "Joan ... you know all those mistakes you've been making all these years?  Those weren't mistakes.  Those were sins."

Sins?  I thought they were mistakes.

I was born again, changed instantly, given the Holy Spirit of Jesus to live in me.

And from that point forward, God taught me by HIS Spirit.

John 14:26   But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

When Jesus died, HIS testament, The New Testament, came into effect for the elect of God.

We go to God by Jesus, The Word.  God shows us HIS will by HIS Spirit.  We no longer have to go to a prophet to seek the will of God for now we have the Holy Spirit.  In the Old Testament the prophets had the Holy Spirit but the children of Israel were not given the Holy Spirit but in the New Testament all who belong to Jesus, the called of God, have the Spirit of Jesus inside of them.

Hebrews 1:1-3  God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,  Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son, whom HE hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also HE made the worlds;

Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when HE had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Now we hear directly from HIM by HIS Spirit who brings the will of God to our mind by HIS Word which HE delivers to us.

And as a human makes a will and that will shows the will of the man who made that will, The New Testament shows the will of God and Jesus for the elect of God as we live on this present earth and it went into effect with the crucifixion and death of Jesus.

Hebrews 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by HIS own blood HE entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

In the Old Testament they sacrificed the blood of animals yearly for sins of the people to temporarily appease God, but with the sacrifice of the blood of Jesus once for all, we are perfected in HIM so we do not sacrifice Jesus over and over.

Hebrews 10:26  (But) if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

Hebrews 6:4-6   For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,  And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,  If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put HIM to an open shame.

II Peter 2:20-22   For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Revelation 22

14  Blessed are they that do HIS commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

Those persons who do the commandments of God in the New Testament Bible have that right to the tree of life.

Cling to the New Testament Bible doing that word brought by the Holy Spirit for those persons are the sons of God, the elect of God, the called.
