We can find ourselves pulled down by that which we see done by men and women of this world unless we fight to hold onto the concepts of God which cause us to hope in that new heaven and new earth which has been created by God for us.
When Jesus returns we will be caught up in the air with all the saints and taken to a place where there is only righteousness. For none but righteous will be allowed into the new heaven and new earth created by God.
12 And, behold, I come quickly; and MY reward is with ME, to give every man according as his work shall be.
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
14 Blessed are they that do HIS commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

And in the midst of all those things done by people of this world, we must remember the following will be done by God at the end:
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
(All the things people today fight for on this earth will pass away and their fight will be vain.)
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
13 Nevertheless we, according to HIS promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
