* Hold onto to faith in God for without faith we have nothing.

Comments by Joan Boney:

God leads us by HIS Spirit and devil will try to get us to doubt that God was leading us. Or devil will try to reason that word from God away as devil did with Eve.

Genesis 3

Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

(Did God really say that to you?  Was that really God speaking?  Surely you misunderstood.)

2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

(Eve added to the Word by saying "neither shall ye touch it".)

4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

This is exactly opposite to that which God said to Adam for here is what God said:

Genesis 2:15-17   And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.  And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:  But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

But Eve added, "Neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die."

If we add to the Word of God, we set ourselves up for a fall.  For inwardly we know God did not say, "and neither shall ye touch it".

So we have to rightly report that which God said to us or we deceive ourselves.  And the devil will use this against us, causing us to doubt that which God did say to us.  And our faith in God will end up being harmed.

The downfall of Eve started by adding to the Word of God and then the devil helped her to deny the actual word God spoke to Adam and even to cause Adam to sin against God by eating the fruit that was forbidden by God.

Genesis 3

5 (Devil says) For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

(The human wants to be wise and be considered as wise, thus being "as god".)

6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

But the original Word from God on the matter was this:  "Don't eat the fruit."

Genesis 2:16-17   And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:  But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Look again at the instruction from God ...  We keep that instruction before us day and night so we can do that instruction, no more no less.

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it:

Do not eat the fruit of that tree.

But Adam and Eve did eat of the fruit of that tree, disobeying that Word to them from God.  The devil influenced them to reason that word away.

The devil will try to get you to do part of the word.

A woman reported hearing the following word from God:  "Now is the time to get a dog."

She heard this word in November of one year.  It was approximately March of the following year before she actually got the dog.

If you keep the word before you, then you might see "NOW" in connection with the instruction.

To me, the word from God is often very precise.

The devil twists the word rendering the word crippled.

For this reason, I like to write that actual word that I heard down on paper and view that word until I do that word.

A man in our church group went into his back yard and noticed his storage building filled with his stuff.  He began thinking, "Maybe I should get another storage building to store my stuff."

He heard from the Holy Spirit, "Why don't you just get rid of the stuff?"

The Word from God is the wisdom of God on the issue at hand.

(Focus on the word you heard from the Holy Spirit concerning the issue.  Write it down.  Keep that exact word down so you won't twist that word.  Do that instruction.  For that word is life to your flesh.)

Proverbs 4

20 My son, attend to MY words; incline thine ear unto MY sayings.

21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

In 1975, I owned a small business in Dallas.  A woman devised a plan whereby she could get money from me.  It involved a court case.  I heard a word from God, "Don't testify."

When the word comes to us, often people in our own family or church group will stand up against "that" word.

All we have to do is that exact word.

Everyone in my own circle of friends fought me on this.  The woman who worked for me and witnessed the situation was very upset when she found I would not be testifying.  She said, "That puts all the burden on me."  The man I was dating said, "You're not doing this girl any favor by not testifying."  My lawyer said, "I know we will win this case if you will testify."  The judge presiding over the case was shocked when he learned I would not be testifying.  The judge looked at me and said, "You're not testifying."

THE WORD got everyone's attention and they were all against the plan which God gave me.

I've found that often happens.

I did not testify and we won the case.  But win or lose, God has a purpose when HE tells us something.  We just follow that exact instruction.

There have been several times when I have heard from God and thought we might lose as a result but we have to know God is the one instructing us and treat that Word as being from God HIMSELF, and we therefore continue to do "that word".

It would be horrible to turn from the instruction that you believe to be from God.

God is all any of us have.  If we lose God we lose everything.

John 8:31  Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

The devil will try to persuade us:

*  Did God really say "that"?

*  Perhaps you misunderstood.

And the devil will try to get us to go in an opposite way.

John 8:44  He (the devil) was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

The devil will often predict that which will happen to us if we go "that" way.

But we must go the way we believe God told us to go for there is no other way for us.  Faith in what we believe we heard from God is all we have.  That's all Noah had.  That's all Abraham had.  That's all we have.  There is nothing else, no other way!
