* Knowing Jesus as "The Word".

  Proverbs 3

5  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge Him (pray), and HE shall direct thy paths.

7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

"The Lord" is the Son of God, "The Word", who is sitting at the right hand of God in heaven interceding for us.

John 1

1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by Him (The Word); and without Him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In Him (The Word) was life; and the life was the light of men.

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the
darkness comprehended it not.

10 HE (The Word) was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not.

11 HE (The Word) came unto His own, and His own received Him not.

12 But as many as received Him, to them gave HE power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on HIS name (The Word):

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Hebrews 1:3   Who being the brightness of HIS (God's) glory, and the express image of His (God's) person, and upholding all things by the word of HIS power, when HE had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

***

In the beginning was The Word.

The Word came to earth for a short time in the form of a man named Jesus.  HE had to be in the form of a man to suffer as a man to pay for sins of man.

***

Hebrews 2:9-10     But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that HE by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

(HE had to come as a man because had HE come to earth as an angel HE could not have suffered in the flesh and died because angels do not suffer nor die.  So Jesus, The Word, came to earth in the form of a man which is a little lower than the angels.)

***

Hebrews 2:10   For it became HIM (The Word), for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

(Comments by Joan Boney)

When I see "The Lord", to me HE is "The Word."

Thus:  Psalm 23:1   The LORD (The Word) is my shepherd; I shall not want.

The Word leads me and guides me and teaches me.

To me, The Word became a man named Jesus for a short time on earth and then was taken back into heaven as The Word.

I never see The Word as a human form of a man.  To me The Word is The Word, instruction given to me by God.

To me, I am not guided by a human hand but by The Word.

(So many people who have written hymns show Jesus in a human form, like being guided by "a hand", saying things like:  "By HIS own hand HE leadeth me ... I always translate that as follows:  By HIS own Word HE leadeth me.)

If we view Jesus today as a human form, rather than as "The Word", I believe we will miss the spiritual impact of The Word being Jesus and Jesus being The Word.

We should respect the "word" that comes to mind, when it is God speaking, as being God HIMSELF speaking to us.

Thus we hear, believe, and obey.
