* Proverbs 3

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

Live the word.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart;

The "Lord" is "The Word".  We must take that Word given us by God and apply that word to our lives, living constantly in doing that word throughout the day when the opportunity arises.

For example:

Philippians 4:6-7

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Every memory that torments us we must learn to take to God in prayer, depending on God to show us that which HE thinks about that situation of the past.  Trust in the Lord with all your heart ... that HE will show you and give you what you need.

No human can do this for you.  You must develop a trust in God and a faith in God.

If we fear anything we must stop right now and pray, doing Philippians 4:6.

If we dream anything we must stop right now and pray.

If we are concerned about anything we must stop right now and pray.

And throughout this day and every day as long as we live on this earth we must stop over all concerns and pray, pouring out our hearts before God.

Only as we really do this will we enter into faith in God and peace.

*  and lean not unto thine own understanding.

We must not try to figure things our in our own minds.  Instead we pray for wisdom and allow God to give us HIS thoughts for only what God thinks is truth in the matter.

Therefore we ask God for wisdom.  We ask God to give us HIS thoughts on the matter.  We learn to trust that God will somehow make the truth known to us.

*  In all thy ways acknowledge Him,

Pray over everything we are thinking of doing.

At one point, I kept a daily diary listing those things I had prayed over so I could remember to pray over everything.

and HE shall direct thy paths.

As we pray, we must have faith that God will direct our paths.  We also must realize that somehow God will reach us and get through to us to show us HIS way and HIS truth in the matter over which we are praying.

And we wait until we are persuaded that we have God's truth.

And we know how to tell if the idea we have is from God.

James 3:17   But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

If we have envy or strife in our hearts there will be confusion and every evil work.  James 3:14

So when we think we might have envy or strife, we can pray asking God to create in us a clean heart and to renew a right spirit in us.  Psalms 51:10  (I often pray this over myself.)

Do you see how much prayer has to do with Proverbs 3:5-7.

Prayer is a key way to connecting with God.  Also we must do that instruction that we believe to be from God and continue in that Word that we receive from God.

Be not wise in thine own eyes:

Often we think we know what to do and we set about doing it without prayer.

Proverbs 16:25   There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

When I pray and believe God has shown me something, I don't take pride in myself for I know it was God who showed me what to do so my awe is in God.

A few days ago, Pam and I were watching a biography concerning General George S. Patton.  But the narrator, who had gathered the information about General Patton, showed so much pride in himself for the points he had gathered, that we had to turn the show off.

Be not wise in thine own eyes ...

* fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

Make it a way of life to depart from evil.

Learn to walk away from people who speak wrongly, with pride or with arrogance or with willfulness.  Learn to walk away from antichrist.

Learn to turn off television shows where there is pride or wrong concepts which might lead you incorrectly.  Renew your mind to that which Bible says after you hear wrong things.
