Joshua 1
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
9 Have not I commanded thee? says God.

If we meditate on that word given us by God by HIS Spirit, we build a deep root system for ourselves. It is like building your house on "a rock". It makes you solid. It enables you to do that word when you keep that word before you allowing it to take root in your heart.
***
Example: Meditating on a scripture whereby I can gain enough strength to turn from watching television newscasts, for they bring too much evil to my life.
Proverb 1
15 Walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
16 For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
Think on what this scripture is saying and how it pertains to the subject from which you wish to free yourself:
* If sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
We just have to refuse to go with them when we realize we are pulled down by them. Choose good and not evil.
As I tried to watch news concerning Coronavirus, much evil tried to go into my heart because of the newscasters words: They wanted to cause President Trump to be seen as evil. I do not want to see him as either good or as evil. If anything, the Bible tells me to pray for the "king", the men in authority, so we may live peaceful lives. I could see the newscasters and their reports were trying to take me away from doing what I'm told to do in Bible. And I found I was continually troubled by their reasonings on various issues. I found ungodliness in their judgments on various subjects. I was never in peace after seeing a newscast.
We must set our paths where we can live in peace. There are certain movies and television shows I refuse to watch for they do not cause me to go in a way of peace.

Their feet do run to evil for they love to speculate. And there can be so much sin in their speculations. Pride of man in their own wisdom about the matter. Pride in other men as those men appear on their newscast speaking of the matter. I never felt I was getting "just the facts". I could see much terrible opinions of men of this world were trying to work their way down into my heart.
Proverbs 10:19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin:
Don't walk in their way: Just ask God when you feel you need to know something. Most things they talk about really don't pertain anyway to us. Wisdom is from God.
Don't put yourself in their path.
After a few days of meditating in Proverbs 1, I became strong enough to take proper action because of those scriptures.
I removed those TV channels from my TV guide so I wouldn't be reminded of them.
I removed CNN from my Kindle table.
Finally, after about 4 days, I found at the end of the day I hadn't even thought of television news.
We have to free ourselves in spiritual ways such as this. Meditating on the word from God is the key. But often we have to keep those scriptures before us for a few days to get the concept to go deeply into our hearts.
