Podcast: Worshipping God in spirit and in truth

The one thing that is the same between the Old Testament church and the New Testament church is this:  The ones who believed in God, believed God was speaking and they did that which God said to do.

In the building of the tabernacle, we see the following testimony:

Exodus 39:32  Thus was all the work of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation finished: and the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did they.

In the Old Testament, God spoke to Moses and Moses delivered the Word of God to the people.

In the New Testament, we follow that which the Holy Spirit says to us in the issues of this present life.

When God gives us a scripture, we do that scripture.

When God brings to us a concept, an idea, we do that idea in the issues of this present life.

Where do we worship God?  How do we worship God in today's church?

John 4

19 The woman saith unto HIM (to Jesus), Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship HIM.

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship HIM must worship HIM in spirit and in truth.

Hebrews 11

23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king's commandment.

24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;

25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing HIM who is invisible.

Today we also see HIM who is invisible as we follow the Spirit of God, doing as God shows us to do by the Spirit.

God is invisible, being a spirit.  The Holy Spirit is invisible.  We follow that which is not seen by human eyes.  For God speaks to us by HIS Spirit and we follow HIM, believing that which we have heard was God speaking and we believe what HE tells us and we do that which HE tells us, thus resting in Him, in HIS Word to us.

This is the New Testament church today.  Hearing the Word God speaks by HIS Spirit and believing it is God who spoke to us and doing that which God tells us to do.

Thus we worship God in spirit and in truth.
