These
Old Testament examples teach us to follow God. They allow us to see
the work of God on behalf of HIS children. And these examples show us
God is always giving information in the problems of life to HIS
children.
I find these examples to be strengthening and faith building.
The
children of Israel had to fight in many battles, and so do we today.
For to enter in to that land promised by God, we will have many who
stand up against us, even people in our own church groups.
But we will learn that the Word from God is all that matters.
Proverbs 21:30-31 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD. The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.
All that matters is, "Did God tell me to do this thing?"

The apostle Paul explains:

6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

There are many problems in this life and we learn to turn to God for answers to each problem.
Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink.

is not pleased when HIS people murmur, complain. Instead we learn to
take each problem to God and to wait patiently for God to bring us HIS
Word to deal with the issue of this world.)

The
children of Israel began the first of many wars which they will wage by
the commandment of the Lord against the other nations so they can enter
the land promised to them by God and live in those lands.
In this present life, we, too, go through many "wars" so that we can do the will of God on this earth.
II Corinthians 10:4-5 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to
the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and
every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and
bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
