* Why can't we just pray?

Comments by Joan Boney:

If we are afraid of that which Donald Trump might do between now and the time he is no longer president, why can't we just pray over our fears?

Philippians 4:6-7   Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

(For the past 4 years, when I have been concerned, I have prayed that God not allow Mr. Trump to use nuclear devices.  Since the January 6, 2021, riots against the Capitol, I have been praying that parents do what they can to convince their young men and women to avoid such things as we have just seen. I hate to see these young lives waisted. Young people are so easily stirred up thinking they do good when what they do is really evil.)

Evil begets evil.  In 2020, we saw police kill individuals without real cause.  Then protestors protested and rioted against the evil done by the killings and they became evil.

God is the judge.  Knowing that God will judge is often our hope.

When we watch the TV newscasts concerning the recent happenings in Washington, DC, we might have fear stirred up in our hearts.

But even then, we can pray over our fears.

That seed of fear which is planted in our hearts by "what might happen", can be extinguished by taking the concern to God in prayer and making requests to God on the subject of the fear.

Can we trust God enough to pray:  "THY will be done."

If we choose to watch TV news or read a newspaper or to read Internet headlines, fear might come.

But even if we don't read or hear these reports, fear still might come through thoughts.

Either way, we deal with all fears by turning to God in prayer, for it is God who cares for us.

God has HIS own instruments of destruction and we can trust God to do as HE wills while still caring for us.

The same applies to Coronavirus ... and all other things that might frighten us.

Pray to God over all concerns when they come to mind!

I Peter 5

6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that HE may exalt you in due time:

7 Casting all your care upon HIM; for HE careth for you.

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto HIS eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
