* An outward form of godliness.

Comments by Joan Boney:

Some people like to identify themselves to other people by wearing crosses around their necks.  Other people cross themselves to show themselves godly to others.  At football games, when the players come onto the field, often when in camera range, you will see an individual football player fall on one knee in the end zone and bow his head and put his head on one hand, which is on his knee, praying for the TV cameras!

A few days ago, I was watching TV news and a picture of Joe Biden came on screen.  He was sitting alone on a bench beside a wall thinking about doing something.  I could see him making a slight movement with his right hand as if he were mentally practicing.  It was as if he wasn't quite sure of how to do what he was about to do. Then he gathered courage and tried to do this thing.  (He looked like he had never done this before) He slowly began to move his right hand as if he were thinking, "Now how do I do this?"  Then he crossed himself as the Catholics do.

The day he became president, he crossed himself again and it was shown on TV news.  He did much better this time.  I said to Pam Padgett, "OH, he's been practicing his religion and he did a lot better than he did a few days ago!"

II Timothy 3

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
