God says "Be ye holy; for I am holy"

Pam Padgett ... member of the body of Christ

Many who call themselves Christians disregard some scriptures in the New Testament Bible.

One example is that many ignore what God has told us in the following about divorce and remarriage:

Matthew 5:32 ... But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

Matthew 19:9 ... And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

I Corinthians 7:10-11 ... And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

Instead of conforming themselves to what God says, they wrongly explain away scripture saying that God loves us and wants us to be happy, so surely its ok for a man to divorce his faithful wife and marry another woman if he likes, or for a divorced woman to remarry if she wants to do so, or for a man to marry a divorced woman if that is who he wants to marry ... not trusting that God's ways are the best for us and the way of life.

They deny scripture, what God has said, and follow their own  ideas and desires.

While thinking about this recently I heard "God has called us to be holy as HE is holy" ...

I Peter 1:14-16  As obedient children (obedient to the word of God), not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as HE which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
