Exhortation 1: Taking Thoughts Captive

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

The important thing when a negative thought, a destructive thought, comes is to bring that thought into the obedience of Christ, into the obedience of THE WORD.

The apostle Paul said …

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

We purpose to build our lives on THE WORD OF GOD, ON WHAT GOD SAYS, rather than what the world and humans say.

The world and the “intelligent” people of the world learn to plan for the future …

But God has another way for HIS people, which sound like foolishness to the people of this world …

Jesus teaches HIS people the following …

Mt. 6 … 24 No man can serve two masters:for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air:for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow:for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.

Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

One of the first things to free ourselves from this world and the ways of this world is to learn to do that which Jesus teaches us which goes against everything humans do and that is to provide for themselves by their own flesh.

We have to learn another way to follow God.

Again, this writing is for the people of God.  If you can believe what God teaches in the Bible and learn to actually do things this way, then you enter into a wonderful peace and freedom.

Look at your current calendar.  How full is your calendar?

How proud some people are of their many plans for the future.  How important it makes them feel.

What if you wiped everything off your calendar?  What if your calendar is now empty?

Sounds crazy!  And to the world is it crazy.

What is it Jesus said?

34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow:for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.

Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.  (Mt. 6)

If you are willing to start with this scripture and what Jesus said, begin by refusing every thought that comes to you today concerning tomorrow.

CRAZY?  IMPOSSIBLE?

That is what most people, even church people, would say.

This writing is not for church people.  This writing is for the people of God.  If you are a person of God, then you must be willing to “bow your knee” to the Word of God, to the HOLY SCRIPTURES.

If you are willing to do that, you must reconcile your position to the various words stated in the Holy Bible.

Start with deciding to do the instruction given by Jesus in Mt. 6 …

Are you willing to learn to believe that instruction?

Few people find the way of “life” and many people go in the way of “destruction.”, says Jesus.  Mt. 7:13-14

It takes effort to do the Word of God … We labor to enter into HIS rest. Heb. 3-4

Few who call themselves Christians ever learn to rest in the way God shown in the Bible.

If you decide to go this way, here is a starting point.

For this entire day, refuse all thoughts having to do with tomorrow.

Start by writing out the following on a card:

Jesus says:  33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow:for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. (Mt. 6)

You will be surprised how many thoughts come to you today concerning tomorrow.

At first you may not even recognize you are thinking of tomorrow.

When you realize you are thinking of tomorrow, STOP, dead in your tracks … Turn to God in prayer.  Ask God to help you to take care of today, not tomorrow.

Begin by taking care of everything today

Jesus said: Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

There will likely be enough today for you to do that you will not be so absorbed with tomorrow.

Deal with today, today.
