God once said to me: "This world wants freedom to sin, to be approved in what they do. Christians want freedom from sin which they have through the Word of God as we do the Word of God."
We have freedom from sin as we follow God, doing HIS Word.

2 Corinthians 3
17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

God, by HIS Spirit, shows us a scripture and we do that word and enter into the image of Christ, The Word. Then we are shown by God another Word, and we do that word and are recreated into the image of Christ by that Word. Therefore we are continually changed into the image of Jesus, The Word, as we do the Word shown us by the Holy Spirit of God.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
After God shows us our sins and causes us to be born again by giving us a new heart and a new Spirit, we no longer want to do those sins which we once did but now we want to know about God and serve God.
Revelation 3:5 (Jesus says) He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before MY Father, and before HIS angels.
We overcome by prayer and by doing that Word given us by God which makes us free from the sins we once did and causes us to be servants now to God. Our righteousness is of God because it was God who gave us The Word so we can live in HIS peace by following HIM.
