Psalms are prayers.
David was no stranger to trouble.
Saul fought against David during the early years of David's life.
After
David's sin against Uriah and Bathsheba, God raised up one of David's
own house, Absalom, David's son, to fight against David in the later
years of David's life.
David was also a man after God's own heart.
We can all relate to these prayers spoken by David.
Some of the great psalms of David, prayers of David, are as follows:

Psalm 23
(Because I follow HIM and HE is leading me, I shall not want.)
2 HE maketh me to lie down in green pastures: HE leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 HE restoreth my soul: HE leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for HIS name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for THOU art with me; THY rod and THY staff they comfort me.
5 THOU preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: THOU anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
(A
Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had
gone in to Bathsheba, and had Uriah her husband killed in battle. II
Samuel 11-12)
(A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. II Samuel 17)
1 LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God.
3 But THOU, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
4 I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and HE heard me out of HIS holy hill.
5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.
6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
7 Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for THOU hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; THOU hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
8 Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: THY blessing is upon THY people.

Psalm 51
1 Have
mercy upon me, O God, according to THY lovingkindness: according unto
the multitude of THY tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against THEE, THEE only, have I sinned, and done this evil in THY sight: that THOU mightest be justified when THOU speakest, and be clear when THOU judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, THOU desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part THOU shalt make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which THOU hast broken may rejoice.
9 Hide THY face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from THY presence; and take not THY holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of THY salvation; and uphold me with THY free spirit.
13 Then will I teach transgressors THY ways; and sinners shall be converted unto THEE.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, THOU God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of THY righteousness.
15 O Lord, open THOU my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth THY praise.
16 For THOU desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: THOU delightest not in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, THOU wilt not despise.
18 Do good in THY good pleasure unto Zion: build THOU the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then shalt THOU be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon THINE altar.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
