Podcast: The divided kingdom: God penalizes king Solomon because he worships other gods in his old age

The Kings of the children of Israel:

* Saul (I Samuel 9-10)
* David  (I Samuel 16:13)
* Solomon  (I Kings 1:32-39)

The Divided Kingdom:
(Judah & Israel)

I Kings 11:11-13

JudahRehoboam son of Solomon was king

Israel :  (10 tribes)  Jeroboam was king.

I Kings 15:6   And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.

From the time of Rehoboam and Jeroboam, the kingdom was divided into Judah and Israel and many kings reigned over the divided nations through the coming years.

With many of the kings, their works were evil in the sight of God.  Great penalties followed the evil works.

God divides the kingdom because of the sins of Solomon:

I Kings 11

1 But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;

2 Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.

3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.

4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.

5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.

7 Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.

8 And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.

9 And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,

10 And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.

Penalty from God upon king Solomon:

11 Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept MY covenant and MY statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.

12 Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.

13 Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen.

14 And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king's seed in Edom.

Worshipping other gods in today's churches:

Any time we add to the Holy Bible and worship something that is not in the Bible, we worship other gods.

Anytime we change doctrine away from that which is in the Bible, we set up other gods in our churches and the people worship other gods in their changed doctrines.

Some of the gods added by man to the churches today:

* Calling their minister's "Reverend", making the minister an "idol" of men.

* Setting up graven images inside the church building and attributing various powers to things such as crossing themselves, lighting candles, wearing medallions made by man.

* Changing doctrines away from that shown us in New Testament Bible: divorce/remarriage; homosexual/lesbians; bishops/elders; gathering of the church in ways opposite to I Corinthians 14; elimination of gifts of Holy Spirit and Jesus' teaching of the working of the Holy Spirit in the church.

How could Solomon worship those gods of his wives?

How can we worship gods of our relatives and deny the scriptures in doing so?

With the second coming of Jesus judgment will come against antichrist churches who have fallen away from scriptures:

II Thessalonians 2

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

(falling away:  churches will fall away from scripture allowing antichirst into the churches)

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Jesus will destroy antichrist churches when HE returns to gather HIS elect:

II Thessalonians 2

8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of HIS mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of HIS coming:

9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
