Put On the LORD Jesus Christ

How do we put on the Lord Jesus Christ?

Jesus Christ is the Word ... Put on "the Word" ... and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

First, Jesus said ...  My kingdom is not of this world: if MY kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is MY kingdom not from hence  John 18:35

If Jesus' kingdom is not of this world, how can my kingdom be of this present world?  If this world was Jesus' kingdom then would we, HIS servants, fight over things of this world.

Like the great men and women of the Bible, we are just strangers here, to this world, and pilgrims here ... just passing through. 

Hebrews 11:13-16 ... These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earthFor they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.  And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.  But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for HE hath prepared for them a city.

Live in peace while you are here.  You cannot fight for this world and live in peace.

Don't you know this world is ordained to pass away?

Peter says ... II Peter 3:10-14 ...  But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.  

Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Nevertheless we, according to HIS promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
 

Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of HIM in peace, without spot, and blameless.

But you want this world to be a "better" place for your grandchildren.

What does the Bible say concerning this world and concerning the end times?

II Timothy 3:1-17 ... This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
 

But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.  Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.  

But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing OF WHOM thou hast learned them (You learned from God the way of God);

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
 

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Therefore if you want to leave your grandchildren a better world, live a godly life in Christ Jesus ... this will help them ... and they will know also that this world is not the answer... the people of God set themselves to please God.

There is a new heaven and a new earth coming down from God.  This present world will never be righteous.  Our goal is to recognize these truths from the Bible.

John saw a new heaven and a new earth coming down from heaven and that is the new Jerusalem where righteousness will dwell.

Revelation 21:1-5 ...  And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and HE will dwell with them, and they shall be HIS people, and God HIMSELF shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.  And HE that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.

These fleshly bodies will not go with us into heaven.  God will give us new bodies as HE wills.  I Corinthians 15  Therefore all this focus on your fleshly body will avail nothing.  Our fleshly bodies will see corruption ... Paul says in a twinkling of an eye, we will be changed out of these fleshly bodies that we know today.  We will be given a new body for the new heaven and new earth.

I Corinthians 15:35-53 ... But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:  And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:  But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased HIM, and to every seed his own body.
 

All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.
 

There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.
 

So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
 

Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. 

Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

We will not have these current bodies in heaven.  God will give us a new body before we leave this present earth.

Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, the Word, and live by that.  

Our kingdom is not of this world.  This present world will pass away and be destroyed.  We will live in a new heaven and new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness.  We will never be able to make this present world righteous.

Revelation 21:8 ... But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

I Corinthians 6:9-11 ... Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate (homosexuals), nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

You cannot live in these past sins after you are born again.  After we are born again, we are"dead" to this world and to the flesh we once were and we are changed into a new creature, a person who now desires God and wants to serve God and wants to please God. 

At the end of our lives on this earth our flesh will die or if Jesus returns before then, our present flesh will be changed instantly and the spiritual body given us by God will go into heaven.

Therefore ... If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.  Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.  For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.  When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with HIM in glory.
 

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:  For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:  In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
 

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.  Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;  And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of HIM that created him:  Colossians 3:1-10

We put on Christ when we reject the will of the flesh and choose to go in the WORD of God, counting our flesh as dead, crucified with Christ.
