Barbara Preston, member of the body of Christ
The other night my husband and I were watching a program on television where one of the characters, who was Catholic, addressed the priest at the church he attended, as “father.”
Right after hearing this, I was reminded of the following scripture …
Matthew 23:9 (Jesus said, while speaking to the multitude and to HIS disciples) …. And call no man your father upon the earth: for One is your Father, which is in heaven.
And then I heard … Share this scripture with your husband.
Then right after this, I heard … He already knows this scripture. (The tone of this thought was dismissive like ‘No need to do this. It won’t do any good.’)
So I found the scripture and shared it with him because I believed the first thought was from God and the second one was from the devil.
My husband is not born again but attended a Baptist church growing up and is familiar with parts of the Bible. I asked him if he had ever heard this scripture before and he said he had not.
Isaiah 55:11 So shall My word be that goeth forth out of MY mouth: it shall not return unto ME void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
