πŸ’₯ Devils try to destroy us, but cannot overcome the word from God

Beth Martin, member of the body of Christ

2 Timothy 1:7  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Many years ago my younger sister and her family lived next door. Her marriage was violent. She often had bruises. Her husband was a drinker and sometimes spent his pay purchasing drinks for his friends ....... coming home with nothing for her and the children. She said that she hit him in anger over this. My nieces and nephews were very young. My husband and I called the police. She refused to leave her husband or to press charges with police.

When my sister was allowing the children to walk on the ice on the swimming pool in bare feet I took steps to have her involuntarily committed for inpatient psychiatric care ...... she did NOT have a sound mind. This incident was her first episode to consent to professional help. The psychologist she got this day allowed her further treatment and care.

When I prayed for her and received this Word from Him (2 Timothy 1:7), I knew that I would be dealing with a spiritual enemy. God gives a sound mind. My sister is being controlled by the devil. God gives the power and the weapon to go to war.

I went to her house and announced that she and I were going to get her help because she is not thinking right or making safe decisions. There was an ax in the room as her family heated with wood. She was pacing in a circle around me while I was speaking. She had the ax in her hand raised to strike me. She said she was fine and I needed to mind my own business .... violent evil spirit in her speaking. I knew that the spirit wanted her to strike me. I kept repeating the scripture .... now I can't remember if I was speaking it aloud or praying ..... both probably. I asked her if she was going to strike me. She said that she wanted to kill me. I knew that she would strike me if I turned my back to her.

Each time I said the scripture, she lowered the ax ..... then she would raise it again and attack me verbally.  I finally said to her that I was going to stay and fight her with this scripture even if it took days. I went in the morning and continued for several hours. I got her in the car. We then drove to the nearest town and made her an appointment to seek psychiatric care.

This episode started my walk with her and continued for many years. She was diagnosed Bipolar and then refused to take medications along with many other issues.  My focus was to support the children who are now grown adults.

I am happy to report that she now is living with her grown daughter and is a great support for her daughter who has a severely handicapped husband. She takes no mediation and is not under any psychiatric care. My sister is happier than she has ever been. I honestly believe that her risky behavior would have resulted in her physical death if God had not answered my prayer for her.   God's Word saves lives.

Another example of overcoming by the word from God in the midst of a dangerous situation  is a report given by Joseph Meriweather, member of the body of Christ:

Some years ago I was catching the crosstown bus.  And as I got on the bus I heard "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper".

Isaiah 54:17  No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of ME, saith the Lord.

I went to the back of the bus and sat down. The bus came to the next stop and two men got on. They came back there where I was sitting. One had a bag and the other had a gun.  The one who had the bag was going to give bullet to the one who had the gun.

I started to talk to them about being born again. They stop doing what they was going to do.  They got up from their seat and got off at the next stop.

I thank God for HIS protection. Also the people on the bus.

John 10:10  Jesus says ... The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
