Is your pastor called "Reverend" by the people at church? If so, this is one of those idols set up by man in the church today. For it is not in the Bible to call another human "Reverend" and when we do that, we worship the man and make him into a idol in the church.
(The only place "Reverend" is used in the Bible is in Psalm 111:9 ... HE sent redemption unto HIS people: HE hath commanded HIS covenant for ever: holy and reverend is HIS (God's) name.)
We may marvel at pastor's speaking, but we must always remember it was God who caused him to speak these things. So as we see God behind the creation of the heavens and the mountains of the earth, we see God behind those gifts given to humans.
So we worship God and thank God for the gift rather than worshipping that human which God created.

Here are some of the idols set up by men in the churches today:
* graven images of wood, or stone, or glass, or even photos which seem to be religious ... these are set to make people "feel" religious but we are supposed to worship God in Spirit and in truth, not in conjurings of man.
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in
order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I
had appointed thee:
6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe ME, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

* crossing yourself ... holy water ... bowing down before an altar made by the hands of men.
* The Bible tells us to call our New Testament ministers: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers ... these are the ministries given by Jesus to HIS New Testament church after the resurrection. Ephesians 4:8;11-12

Can ministers marry in the church set up by Jesus?
* When they set it up where their ministers are forbidden to marry, they set up "doctrines of devils", says the apostle Paul.
I Timothy 4
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
In the New Testament Bible we see that Peter was married. Paul chose
not to marry. The minister of the New Testament church has a right to
marry. To forbid marriage for the minister is to set up a doctrine of
devils in the churches. And often such sets the stage for both
homosexuals and child abusers in the ministry.

What God says in the Bible about homosexuals and lesbians:
Romans 1
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the
woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working
that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of
their error which was meet.
Mark 10:6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
No,
homosexuals were not born that way. They were created male but they
turned themselves over to be homosexuals. If they repent and see this
according to these scripture, they will go a normal way as created by
God.

Requirements for bishops in todays churches:
Titus 1 (The apostle Paul speaking to Titus)
6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he
may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the
gainsayers.
(Notice Paul uses the titles "elder and bishop" interchangeably. These are the same office in the church.)

Does it really matter? some will say.
"Yes," the Word of God matters.
If your church does not go by the word of God, the Holy Scriptures, then your church is antichrist. (opposite to scripture)
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All
scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
I Corinthians 14:26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
