Comments by Joan Boney:
During the hurricanes that hit the east coast of USA in 2024, I often heard men who suffered loss, wanting the USA government to provide for them. This surprised me!
For since I became a Christian (1975) I expected God to provide for me. It would not have occurred to me to expect the governments of men to provide for me.
Many years ago, in 1975, I made a vow to God based on this example of scripture.
Genesis 14 (there had been a war)
21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.
22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, 23 That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:
22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, 23 That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:
When I saw this, I said to God: "I want my provision to be from YOU like Abram vowed."
And for the rest of my life I've been aware that it is God WHO has set things up to cause me to have provision on this present earth.
I wouldn't consider exchanging my provision which is from God for that which man would provide for me through governments.
God puts me in the exact position with my exact needs to "get wealth" without my giving any thought at all to the situation! I don't have to try to get money. God just has me in the right place at the right time and provision is there for me whether it be money or people.
But the world depends on elections and men elected ... I just know God will provide my needs. (Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.)
If I needed something, I would just ask God. And God would work it out for me.
It would not occur to me to ask the USA government.

In the 1980's I was visiting my mother. She and her cousin were going out to get free cheese that the government was giving away. I was horrified when I learn of this.
We had plenty of money to buy all the cheese my mother wanted or needed!
And I told my mother that if she didn't have the money, I would give her the money.
What kind of integrity is it if you take from another person or a government when you have money and can pay for it?
