An 83-year-old Baptist woman told me she didn't like to attend church any more because it seemed to her that they had watered down scripture so much now days.
Even some translations of the Bible have watered down parts of the scriptures.
Compare this section of scripture in KJV and same scripture in NASB.
II Thessalonians 2
KJV
10-12 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
NASB
10-12 And with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not accept the love of the truth so as to be saved.
11 For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false,
12 in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.
(I see the KJV as being much stronger and likely more effective in showing the heart of God to the congregation)
***
It takes courage to speak the word of God.
But the word of God is salvation to those who are being saved for it shows them the heart of God.
