Paul tells people of God to pray for those who are in authority

Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

I Tim. 2 ... 1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

It makes sense to me to pray for this worldly man who is president-elect (USA) when he is called to our attention.

Yesterday he met with President Obama.  I prayed that Mr. Trump would see things he needs to see.

I suspect the daily briefings he now receives will illuminate many avenues not seen before and certainly God will work in all this to do HIS own will.

Most likely none of us can imagine all the decisions a government leader must make daily.  Certainly he needs wisdom from God.  While he may not know to turn to God, we know to do this.  Paul tells us to pray for these men.

Although these are nations of men, we do want to be able to live in peace and godliness while on this present earth.

Hopefully we know we will never make this world righteousness through governments of men or political parites.  John told us in his day that the whole works lies in wickedness.  (I Jn. 5)

We, like those before us, look for a new heaven and new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness.  (I Peter 3)

So if you are looking for a president or government of men who will turn a nation of humans to the Bible, you have  put yourself in a mythical situation and will go through many needless tribulations.

We worship God "in Spirit" and "in truth" ... (Jn. 4)

Paul even told us evil men and seducers would wax worse and worse ... but for us to continue in the Holy Scriptures ... living our lives by the Spirit of God, by the Word of God ... II Tim. 3

Peter said we should keep ourselves "in peace, without spot, and blameless." ...

II Peter 3 ...  10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

Jesus said HIS kingdom was not of this world ... (Jn. 18)

If you are trying to make this present world the kingdom of God, you are not seeing scripture correctly.

There is a new heaven and a new earth laid up for the people of God.  (Revelation 21)

At the appointed time, Jesus will return for the church.  Those of Jesus who are dead will rise in their new bodies to meet the Lord in the air.  Those of Jesus who are still alive at the time Jesus returns will be changed instantly out of these present bodies, given new bodies, and will also rise to meet them in the air.  It will not be on this present earth that we gather together.  (I Thess. 4 & I Cor. 15)

In the meantime, we still live on this earth.  And we follow the instruction of the Bible.  And Paul tells us to pray for those in authority in order that we may live here in peace and godliness.

While we look a lot at secular things, I think Rev. 16 shows the wrath of God that is to come on this present earth and what will happens when that eventually comes.

All this will be done to this present earth by God at the appointed time ...the wrath of God ...

Revelation 16 ... 1 And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.

2 And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.

3 And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man:and every living soul died in the sea.

4 And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood. 5 And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus. 6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.

8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. 9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues:and they repented not to give him glory.

10 And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain, 11 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.

12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. 18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. 19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell:and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. 20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. 21 And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent:and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.

In the meantime, there will be many overwhelming worldly situations for a president to deal with.

It makes sense to me that Paul would ask us (the church) to pray for all who are in authority in order that we would be able to live "a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty."

When things get really bad, it will be God doing it ...  great signs and wonders ... plagues, great hail & earthquakes, signs in the sky (darkness of sun and partial darkness of sun affecting growing seasons on earth) ... all these things told of in Revelation.

I don't believe we will be here for that ... I believe the coming of Jesus will save us from that wrath of God on this earth.

Until then we certainly want to continue in peace, worshiping God as we believe we should, as we are able to do now.

And the Bible tells us God raises up one and puts down another. Psalms

I watched the USA election returns on November 8 with great interest.

What I found myself saying is, "Thy will be done."
