Plan ahead?

The way of God is opposite to the way we are taught by man.  Most of us learn to plan ahead.  We think that is the way to get what we want.

But what God has shown me is an opposite way.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.  Isaiah 40

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Mt. 6

I have no plans at all for future.  I just do what I see to do today and wait on God, paying attention to that which the Spirit of God speaks to me and staying focused on that which I hear from God doing that.

So many ministers send me emails telling of all the works they plan to do in the future.  I know these are works born of their own mind, their own desires.  When this is such, there is great danger both on this present earth (of getting into financial trouble) and in the day of judgment.  Jesus said:  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them,  I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.  Mt. 7  (Jesus didn't know them because the works were authored by their own desires and not by God although the works were very religious.)

To stay out of trouble, we need to focus on today rather than tomorrow.  Plans of tomorrow come from our own flesh and can get us into trouble.

Examples:  Since you are reading this you are aware we are on Internet.  How did we get on Internet to do these writings?  Is that something I planned and thought about and had on a "do to" list?

I had no thought at all of doing these writings on Internet until God gave me a dream and as a result of that dream 3 days later we had set up the "blog" where we publish on Internet.

In 1979, God put me on radio in a similar way.  I was asleep and it was as if a trumpet sounded saying three words, "Hartford, Seattle, KWJS".  I jumped straight up out of bed! 

It was obvious to me that KWJS was a call letter to either radio or TV.  I checked and it was a radio station. 

I said, "Are you telling me to go on radio?  I wouldn't know how to do that."

Gentle impression:  Call the radio station manager.

That morning I called radio station manager at KWJS.  I told him I thought God might be showing me to go on radio.  I asked him how you would do that.  

He said make audition tape 29 1/2 minutes long and send it to him and if I fit their programming he would offer me a contract.

I asked how much it costs.  He replied $800 month for 30 min 5 days a week.

I made the tape and sent it that morning.  I asked God how HE wanted me to pay for the broadcast. 

Gentle impression:  Send letter to people you know and tell them what happened.

I did that immediately but I did not ask for money.  I just told them what happened. 

People began giving me money without my asking for money.  Within 24 hrs. I had money for the entire month of broadcasts.

I was on radio within a week.

God put me on radio and many years later, God put me on Internet.

My experience with God has been that if God wants us to do something it is something that we can do without a lot of effort and the money is there for the work.  And usually God tells us to do something when it is time to do it rather than planning ahead and working toward the goal, although I have been shown in dreams things that were going to happen in future. 

But beware of those plans that you have for future.  It could be your own flesh leading you and this could easily be a path of destruction for you.

Focus on today, not on tomorrow.

God tries the righteous

Psalm 11:5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

Try – test, prove, examine

As I thought about God trying the righteous, I was reminded of Abraham.  We’re told that God tried him when He told Abraham to offer his only son (Isaac).  Abraham obeyed what God told him to do, right up to the point of killing Isaac when he was stopped by an angel of God … And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. (Genesis 22: 12)

By his obedience, even when it came to the son he loved, Abraham showed that he feared God.  We are also told of his faith in God shown by what he did … By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure. (Hebrews 11: 17-19)

Paul knew that God tries our hearts, and he sought to please God as he spoke those things entrusted to him by God purely …

1 Thess. 2: 3 For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile: 4 But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

We also have the example of Asa, king of Judah, being found to have done foolishly as he trusted in the Syrians instead of in God when threatened by Baasha …

2 Chronicles 16:1 In the six and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah, and built Ramah, to the intent that he might let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah. 2 Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of the LORD and of the king's house, and sent to Benhadad king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying, 3 There is a league between me and thee, as there was between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent thee silver and gold; go, break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me. 4 And Benhadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abelmaim, and all the store cities of Naphtali. 5 And it came to pass, when Baasha heard it, that he left off building of Ramah, and let his work cease.

2 Chronicles 16: 7 And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the LORD thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand. 8 Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen? yet, because thou didst rely on the LORD, he delivered them into thine hand. 9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.

God tries us.  What we do and say, prove us, whether we love God, obey Him and trust in Him.  And those whose hearts are perfect (complete) toward God have this assurance …

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.   (2 Chronicles 16:9)

World cannot see things of God

I was reading in I Kings and the following caught my attention:

(Now Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar trees and fir trees, and with gold, according to all his desire,) that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee. 12And Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; and they pleased him not. I Kings. 9

I just did not understand this story.  I read it and that which follows several times and still did not understand the point of this story.

Then God opened my eyes to understand.  We give to the world but the world is not pleased by our gift.  I have often given scripture to people who identify themselves as Christians and they just stare at me.  I know the scripture I have given them means nothing to them.

Paul explains:  But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. I Cor. 2:14

A few days ago, I was thinking about the many translations of the Bible.  As I understand these, they were presented to help men to understand things of God.

But no matter how you word it, man cannot understand things of God unless God opens the understanding of man.

No matter how many times we explain something man cannot understand unless God opens the understanding of man.

All wisdom and all understanding are from God.  Man cannot understand things of God with his own mind. Neither can we explain it so he will understand no matter how we explain to him.  Unless God gives him understanding, he will not understand what we say.  Neither did the world understand what Jesus said ... Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. 44Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.  45And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.  Jn. 8

Deceivers coming in the name of Jesus

Internet is known for deceivers ... And I find many who contact me "in the name of the Lord" to be deceivers.  They try to steal from us, making us feel badly that we have things and money in order to get us to give to them.  Such are predators and often they identify themselves as ministers of Christ.  I am amazed as they come to me by email trying to get me to give money to them.  They know nothing at all about me.  They do not care about me nor about my financial condition.  All they want is my money.  And they do this to you also from pulpits and on radio/TV.  Jesus described them as follows:  Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.  Mt. 23

And Jesus warned us there would be such in the last days ... Jesus said:  Take heed that no man deceive you. 5For many shall come in my name, saying, I (Jesus) am Christ; and shall deceive many.  Mt. 24:4  They will come saying, "Jesus is Lord ... Jesus is Christ".


Flee from such.

The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit:  Psa. 36

- iniquity:  grossly unfair
-deceit:  concealing or misrepresenting the truth ... misleading ...to cause someone to believe something that is not true, typically in order to gain some personal advantage ... to catch and ensnare to cheat

Paul warned:

For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:
Titus 1:10

"Circumcision" would mean those who are supposed to be of God but are really deceivers.  Jesus said there would be many who are such in last days and because they say Jesus is Lord they would be able to deceive many.

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. II Cor. 11

I have no doubt that many today who come saying they are of God and telling of their calling are actually called by Satan though they think the voice calling them was God.

I see them all the time by email.  Many occupy pulpits around the world today.  Many are on radio/TV coming in the name of the Lord trying to get your money for works they display as "good" ... Yet Jesus said he will turn away many in the day of judgment who come professing good works... Mt. 7 ... Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them,  I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.  Titus 1

And we are warned that some will come in last days performing great miracles and because of these miracles, if possible, they would even deceive the elect of God. Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.  Mt. 24  Even if they show miracles, we must beware.  They still may not be of God though they profess to be of God and use the name "Jesus" and perform miracles.


When you see such, flee.

But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; 18How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. 19These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

Attend to MY words

Proverbs 4:14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. 15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away. 16 For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall. 17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence. 18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. 19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble. 20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

Proverbs 4:25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. 26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. 27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

As I read what we're told in Proverbs 4 about the path we are to go on, I was reminded of Jesus telling us to enter in at the strait (restricted and confined) gate and go in the narrow (limited) way which leads to life.

Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

As we go in the ways of God, we go through the strait gate and in a narrow way.  The boundaries of what we do are set by the word of God.  We don't go in ways that fulfill lusts of the flesh or which cause us to win approval from those of this world.  We keep our eyes on what God has said, meditating in those things (pondering the path of our feet) so that we stay in His ways.  Our way is defined and limited by the word of God. 

The truth we're given shines as a light, showing us the way.  And as we live according to truth from God, the light becomes brighter, shining more and more.  The way becomes even clearer as we continue walking in truth. 

But we need to stay on the narrow way, the way that is according to the word of God.  Not turning aside to the ways of this world, just keeping our eyes on what God has told us.  The ways of wickedness ... that which is not of God and against the ways of God ... are outside the path defined by the word of God.  Evil men are all around us in the world, going in the ways of wickedness.  I'm reminded of the parable Jesus told about tares and wheat ...

Matthew 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

We aren't isolated from those of this world.  We see them as we go about our daily lives.  But we stay on the narrow path without turning to the right or to the left, even in the midst of evil men, as we hold fast and conform our lives to the word of God. 

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. 

Comfort for God's people

I remembered thy judgments of old, O LORD; and have comforted myself. Psa. 119:52

As I thought on this, I remembered Joseph in Egypt and how God put a separation between the people of Israel and the Egyptians.  

And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call you, and shall say, What is your occupation? 34That ye shall say, Thy servants’ trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians. Genesis 33

The people of Israel made themselves an abomination unto the Egyptians so the Egyptians would not want to associate with them.

By such things as this, God delivers us from people of the world and keeps us to Himself.

While our flesh wants to be approved by man and liked by men, God often has another way of making us an abomination in the sight of man so they will leave us alone.

Then when the time came to deliver HIS people from Egypt, God caused the circumstances to arise that would push Israel out of Egypt.  First, the bondage in Egypt became more severe and the people of Israel suffered more because of the affliction of the Egyptians upon them.  Sometimes we have to be made really uncomfortable before we make that change.

Then when they were out of Egypt, by themselves in that wilderness, some complained ... But God led them in a way in the wilderness where they could not return to Egypt.  Then when they were thirsty, God made water to come out of a rock.  There were more than a million people who walked out of Egypt into that dry land.  There was no water for them but God made water where there was no water.  Every provision was given by God for them.  They lacked nothing though they were in a place where they could get nothing for themselves.

All this amazes me and comforts me.

As we think upon the judgments of God we comfort ourselves.

John the Baptist didn't look like Elijah

At the end of the book of Malachi we see the following prophecy.

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. Mal. 4:5

Jesus said:  And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? 8But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses. 9But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. 10For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. Mt. 11

When we look at Elijah, we see a prophet performing great miracles.

But when we look at the scriptures about John the Baptist we see no miracles.  Instead we see a prophet speaking correction.

They don't look alike!  It would likely have been difficult to recognize John the Baptist as the prophet told about at the end of the book of Malachi.

If we try to see with natural eyes, we will miss it!

Contend for the faith

Jude 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

Much of what is said and done in the world is opposite to what God has said, with the evil becoming more and more open and widespread, as we have been warned....  But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. (2 Timothy 3:13)

As the evil becomes more widespread and openly accepted, we need to be increasingly diligent to earnestly contend (fight), for the faith ... that we hold fast to, and continue believing, what God has said.

Two acts that are blatantly flaunted in the world today, and which oppose what God has said, are fornication and homosexuality.  These have become so accepted in the world that to support them is increasingly seen as "good", while those holding them to be wrong are openly ridiculed.  We have to endure a type of persecution to uphold scripture about these.

Another danger we face is that often the fornication, and sometimes even the homosexuality, are presented by those who appear pleasant to us in some way or by those we have something in common with.  And they may be presented in "reasonable" ways ... wiles of the devil trying to snare us and to steal truth from God from us. 

Recently I printed out scriptures that deal with both fornication and homosexuality.  As we think on these scriptures, we are strengthen in truth from God, helping us cling to and uphold what God has said ... one way to contend for the faith ...

Fornication (voluntary sexual intercourse between people who are not married to each other)

1 Corinthians 5: 11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

1 Corinthians 6: 9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

1 Corinthians 10: 8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

Ephesians 5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

Colossians 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: 6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

Hebrews 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; 16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. 17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

Homosexuality

Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. 

Deuteronomy 23:17 There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel.

1 Kings 14:22 And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their fathers had done. 23 For they also built them high places, and images, and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree. 24 And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

1 Kings 15:11 And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father. 12 And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

1 Kings 22:46 And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he (Jehoshaphat) took out of the land.

2 Kings 23:7 And he (Josiah) brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove.

Romans 1: 24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Jude 1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

The following is a very important scripture dealing with fornication because it shows that sexual intercourse (even when it is with a prostitute) causes the two to become one flesh.

Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 16What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 17But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 18Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. Does it really matter?

In my Kindle e-reader, people share their thoughts concerning various scripture through the KJV Search by Verse Bible.  I was reading a comment by one woman and it surprised me.  "I didn't know that."  Then I began to wonder about that which she wrote.  As I looked at the scripture I saw she misinterpreted it and spoke incorrectly.  I printed what God showed me about the verse and brought truth forth so people would have opportunity to correctly interpret that scripture.

To misinterpret or misquote a scripture is to bear false witness against Jesus the Word of God.

A few years ago, I was visiting my cousin with the man I was planning to marry.  Howard and I were alone at my cousin's house and the subject came up about Pharaoh.  Howard thought Pharaoh was not drowned in the Red Sea with his men.  He said that is what the movie showed.  I remembered that I had a Bible in my car so I started out to get it to check on this subject.  Howard said, "It really doesn't matter."  But it mattered to me so I went to car and got Bible and looked it up and showed it to Howard and asked him what he thought after reading the Bible and he replied he thought Pharoah was drowned along with his men. 

Truth matters to me.  And truth concerning scripture really matters to me.  It is a very serious thing to misinterpret or misquote a scripture bearing false witness against Jesus who is the Word.

It does matter.

When in doubt we must take time to PROVE ALL THINGS (I Thess. 5)  ... allowing all things to be established by God.

Sacrifices of righteousness

Psalm 4:5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.

As we go through this life seeking to do what is right in the sight of God, we sacrifice our lives, the ways our flesh wants to go and the ways that are approved by those of this world, but are not according to the word of God.  


This is a sacrifice, and is often painful to the flesh as we are misunderstood, ridiculed, hated, and shunned by those of the world as we obey God.  But as we make this sacrifice, God helps us, never failing us.  We put our trust in Him. 

We trust God to help and uphold us in whatever we face ... 

Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

We trust God to show us what to do each step of the way as we turn to Him .... 

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Psalm 32:8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

We may lose friends, help, money, as we obey God.  But we trust that God will provide everything we need.

Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

We trust that God will fulfill the promises He has made to those who believe and love Him.  Here a few of the promises we've been given ....

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

2 Timothy 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

1 Thess. 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Cut off by God

God said to Solomon:  But if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them: 7Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people: 8And at this house, which is high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and to this house? 9And they shall answer, Because they forsook the LORD their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold upon other gods, and have worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath the LORD brought upon them all this evil. I Kings 9

Paul said to the New Testament church:

For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches. 17And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;  18Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. 19Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in. 20Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: 21For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. 22Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. 23And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again. 24For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?  Romans 11

Paul knew he could be cut off.  He said:

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 25And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things.  Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 26I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: 27But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.  I Cor. 9

Also in talking about those who live after the flesh Paul said:  Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Gal. 5

Some people today join churches but continue to do the works of the flesh.  Paul says they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

False witnesses against Jesus

At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death. 7The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So thou shalt put the evil away from among you. Deut. 17

When they were trying to find witnesses to justify putting Jesus to death, there were many false witnesses who came forth against Jesus.  Though there were many lies told, the rulers were looking for witnesses which would allow a death sentence. 

Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; 60But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. (none with witness worthy of death)  At the last came two false witnesses, 61And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.
Mt. 26

In Mark it says even these two didn't agree ... And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none. 56For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together. 57And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying, 58 We heard him say,  I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands. 59But neither so did their witness agree together. 60And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? 61But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? 62And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. 63Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? Mk. 14 

By their laws, Jesus should not have been sentenced to death so they participated in an illegal act. But Jesus had to die as sacrifice for the sins of all.


Today anyone who misquotes or misinterprets the Word of God is a false witness against Jesus the Word.

Delivered from temptation

2 Peter 2:6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; 7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: 8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

A temptation is a trial, or something that provokes or entices us to an action, especially an action that is unwise or wrong.

Peter told us here of God delivering Lot from the trial of being vexed continually by what the wicked said and did.  God removed Lot from Sodom, and then destroying both Sodom and Gomorrha.

Another example of God delivering the godly out of temptations is when David was provoked by Nabal railing at the messengers David sent ....

1 Samuel 25:9 And when David's young men came, they spake to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David, and ceased. 10 And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, Who is David? and who is the son of Jesse? there be many servants now a days that break away every man from his master. 11 Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give it unto men, whom I know not whence they be? 12 So David's young men turned their way, and went again, and came and told him all those sayings. 13 And David said unto his men, Gird ye on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the stuff.

God delivered David from shedding blood by Abigail going to meet him, bringing food and wine for David and his men.  Abigail spoke with great understanding of what God had spoken concerning David, and humbly asked David not to shed blood which would be a grief to David when he ruled over Israel.  By these things David was kept from bloodshed. 

1 Samuel 25:18 Then Abigail made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched corn, and an hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid them on asses. ...  27 And now this blessing which thine handmaid hath brought unto my lord, let it even be given unto the young men that follow my lord. 28 I pray thee, forgive the trespass of thine handmaid: for the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house; because my lord fighteth the battles of the LORD, and evil hath not been found in thee all thy days. 29 Yet a man is risen to pursue thee, and to seek thy soul: but the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD thy God; and the souls of thine enemies, them shall he sling out, as out of the middle of a sling. 30 And it shall come to pass, when the LORD shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he hath spoken concerning thee, and shall have appointed thee ruler over Israel; 31 That this shall be no grief unto thee, nor offence of heart unto my lord, either that thou hast shed blood causeless, or that my lord hath avenged himself: but when the LORD shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember thine handmaid.32 And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which sent thee this day to meet me: 33 And blessed be thy advice, and blessed be thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand.

Although David was kept from killing Nabal, God killed him.  David thanked God for dealing with Nabal and keeping him (David) from evil. 

1 Samuel 25:37 But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became as a stone. 38 And it came to pass about ten days after, that the LORD smote Nabal, that he died.  39 And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed be the LORD, that hath pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and hath kept his servant from evil: for the LORD hath returned the wickedness of Nabal upon his own head. ....

We face various temptations today as we are vexed and provoked by the unjust and wicked around us.   God knows how to help us and deliver us when we are tempted. 

I've also been reminded of the following promise we've been given ...

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Dealing with anger

Recently, I was very angry ... and I was reminded of the following scripture:

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 27Neither give place to the devil. Eph. 4

As soon as I was reminded of this scripture, I picked up the phone and did what I could do to end the problem.

We will likely be angry from time to time.

The instruction is not to sin when you are angry.

We stop the sin by refusing to allow the sun to go down on our "wrath".

God reveals all

Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.  9And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down. 10And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice. 11Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel? 12And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber. 
13And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan. 14Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about.  15And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?  16And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. 17And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
